Do celebrities like David Duchovny and Tiger Woods, use rehab to excuse their devient behavior?

Asked by Blondy (150points) January 27th, 2010

Some would say this is a convenient ploy to avoid responsibility, and even a continuation of attention-seeking behavior. This “problem” has seriously damaged their careers. In the case of Duchovny, he’s now basically a has-been anyway. Tiger Woods has lost some very lucrative endorsements. How do you think they could have handled the situation differently or better? Do you think their wives will ever really forgive them or is the trust is gone forever? Can they be trusted?

Follow some sense of morality! COMMON TIGER YOU KNOW THIS CRAP WAS GONNA HAPPEN!!! I don’t understand these super stars. They can fall just like the rest of us, except the difference is its spectacular when it happens to them. Although they will still remain super rich. But they act all surprised when they are caught up in these scandals! I think its just funny.

Well, these are human beings with real problems and we cannot look into their minds to know their motives!

I say, good for them for trying to change!

They would not have to if the society they live in would not get so worked up over trivialities and turn into vultures circling around the wounded waiting for their feast.

Duchovny is a has-been? Perhaps you don’t get Showtime and aren’t aware he has a very popular series right now called Californication. It will be back for (I think) it’s 4th season next year.

I don’t know enough about Duchovny’s “addiction” to comment. He first said it was online porn, then there was talk he was seeing someone else (his tennis instructor), now I hear he has reconciled with this wife. Who knows?

But Tiger is another story in my book. I’ve lost count of the number of women that he had affairs with (I think last I heard was 8, probably higher now). Someone like Tiger does stuff like this because he can. I almost don’t buy that he’s addicted to sex so much as addicted to power. And no, I don’t think his wife can trust him. She ought to take their two kids and move on with her life, IMHO.

@BoBo1946 Yes they are human beings like the rest of us but they seem to think they are except from reticule because they can perform certain tasks better then the rest of us. AHHHH the burden of being rich and famous! lol. I think i would move to to a tropical island, set up my own never never land and cut off communication with everyone that isn’t on the island.

@Tenpinmaster thought about that lots of times…bet Tiger is looking for a good island!

Do people concentrate their focus on judging celebrities they don’t know to divert attention away from their own problems? I was unaware celebrities were exempt from problems all humans face…...

I don’t think either of them have sex addiction, I don’t think it even exsists. Tiger just likes to have as many women as he can, and they obviously like the money, surely it can’t be his good looks.

I am not sure sexual addiction is a true state. It seems to be an excuse men who elect not to be faithful in a spectacularly large way try to explain their behavior.

I do not think I could trust someone who did what either Duchovney or Woods did. The pattern is too ingrained. I understand that teo Leoni is standing by Duchovny.

How could one ever trust someone who has repeatedly lied?

My understanding was that such sexual behavior went hand in hand with the sort of man who would seek political power, sports acclaim or any other celebrity/“hero” status.

Ladies, just don’t marry these dudes! Simple as that. Or at least know that if you’re in a relationship with such a guy, the Paul Newman types are rarer than the Duchovny/Woods types, so know yourself, what you want and what you can live with, then proceed with caution!

Or, if you’re going to marry them regardless, at least wait until they’re old, like Michael Douglas or Warren Beatty. Both those swordsmen seem to have slowed it down.

Yes, I believe it’s an excuse and I also don’t believe they can be sexually faithful to their partners to anyone without feeling very unsatisfied.
