You arrive at your holiday/vacation destination. Only to realise you forgot to pack something, what's the worst thing it could be & has this ever happened to?

The one thing above all else you absolutely cannot do without or at least would be a serious inconvenience to you. We all know the home alone scenario so exclude any kids from the equation, unoriginal.

Probably some kind of medication. Other than that, you can buy what you need at the place you’re visiting.
my asthma inhalers. Without the maintenance, I’m struggling to breathe in about 24 hours.
Like @jordy240 said, I imagine prescription medicine would be one of the worst. Either my glasses or contacts would be another major problem. I’d be very disappointed if I’d left a few books and/or one of the journals I use to write in, along with my favorite pen.
Not at vacation, at the airport. Not me, but my wife, as we were departing for our honeymoon in Europe.
She left her passport at home.
My Mother-in-law was very impressed that I didn’t kill her, or even yell at her.
Underwear. It sucks to pack everything last little detail and thing you might need and then realize once you’ve arrived that the pair of underwear you are wearing is all you brought.
I went on vacation with my mom, and I was going to buy a gift for my dad, and I discovered I had left my card at home, so the worst thing was that I had my mom buy it and I just had to pay her back when we got back home.
Friend of mine came down here from Tennessee with her family to go to Disney. Got all the way to the park before realizing that the tickets her dad bought online were for DisneyLAND, not DisneyWORLD.
They were non-refundable, and the park wouldn’t exchange them.
@Seek_Kolinahr Ouch. I hope you at least kept them in case you ever do get a chance to head to Anaheim. They don’t expire until after you’ve used them.
The reason they won’t take DL tickets at WDW is that WDW is so pheneomenally bigger (and consequently more expensive). The reverse, however, can be done. Guest Services at Disneyland will be able to give you DL admission if you give them a Walt Disney World ticket. Obviously that doesn’t help you at all…. sorry…..
When we went on holiday (from UK) to FL, my father forgot his driving license.
We had to spend most of the holiday WALKING around Florida.
I remember each day we had to walk down from our apt (about No. 28,000 Gulf Blvd.) to the real estate agents’ at No. 30,001 Gulf Blvd. to see if we could arrange a legitimate faxed copy.
I forgot to pack my M1 Garand last time.I hate when that happens.
@The_Idler
Ouch. I feel your pain. I live here, and it is impossible to function without the ability to drive. No public transportation. It blows hard.
My anti-depressants. Followed by my camera and divacup if I have my period.
My wife. No, but I wish it had.
My skin products, perfume, lotion, etc, etc…. I must always looks gorgeous all the time.
My camera as I love to take pictures. If I forget something and I really need it I can always go buy it and pay the price for my stupidity…but good cameras are pricey and that would be a tough call to just go buy anything more than a disposable and I would be seriously bummed at the resultant quality of the shots.
My wallet, because getting someplace and realizing you have no money would completely suck. After that, my camera. I’d hate to go someplace and not be able to take decent photos. Those disposable cameras are horrible!
My last trip was from CT to IN to visit family and go to a wedding. I took my 4 year old son with me. One of our flights was canceled, so we were switched to another plane at the last minute. We arrived in Indiana, but our luggage did not. We had no clothes, no toiletries, nothing except our carry-on bags. My bag held my camera, my iPod, my wallet, my cell phone, and a book. My son’s carry-on had crayons, paper, stickers, Cheerios, crackers, finger puppets, and Matchbox cars. Not a lot of help there. I’d even stuffed my son’s booster seat into a suitcase, so didn’t have it to legally drive him around in our rental car. I was thrilled to learn that the airline keeps several booster seats to loan to people in our predicament. Also, we were staying with my grandma, who had extra toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, and stuff like that. My son was not thrilled about sleeping in his great-grandmother’s old t-shirt, but we lived. My mom went out to pick up some other toiletries for us, and my grandma insisted on washing the clothes we’d arrived in so they’d at least be clean the next day. We didn’t get our bags delivered until very late the next night. It was a pain, but at least we were with family.
Ambien – I don’t use it much at home, but almost always can’t sleep without it while away.
At least twice my family has left the suitcase or hanging bag with all of the dress clothes at home (once for a family wedding, once for a funeral). There was some serious power shopping occurring.
got all the way to a campground and realized I had forgotten to pack matches, I did have some string and my camping knife…
To be bluntly honest, my vibrator :D
@ElleBee ; That is the first thing the wife packs! No excuse for you! lol
@phil196662 : Haha that’s fantastic! But it’s true, I’d hate to be without it on a trip with my SO :D
@ElleBee you get warmed-up in the car on the way up?
