I have both. I use the Classic 160Gb daily. I fooled around with the Touch for a couple of weeks and got bored. I haven’t yet met an app that I needed.
If you have an iphone, buy the classic.
I have to agree with @dpworkin. I’d rather have more memory than a bunch of apps I hardly use. Go with the Classic.
I agree with the others: go for the classic (especially since you have the iphone already).
get the classic. i like them so much better. and you can always use more memory. who cares if it has a fancy shmancy touch screen. i dont like touch screens anyhow though.
I’d go for iTouch, I can’t stand the classic. I love the touch.
What are your reasons for wanting to buy it? Do you just want a new gadget? Do you want more storage? Are you looking for something you can take to the gym without as much worry?
I can’t help you without knowing what you want.
well, what actually really prompted me to buy an ipod is that my iphone has already ran out of storage. i can’t even put any apps since i used the storage space up for my music. so yeah, i wanted to buy an ipod to transfer all my music files to but i just can’t decide which one.
How much storage space does your iPhone have total?
I’ve got a 120GB Classic. I love it to death. Go with it. Especially if you have a growing music library that is near 64GB or greater. Its always nice to have all your music with you.
Hmm, I would probably go with the 160 gig classic ipod then. And if you’re buying something because you need more space, then it makes sense to get the device with more space. And since you’ve got the iPhone, there’s not much you’d be missing out on not having a touch.
Classic, I say. You can always use more memory.
Plus, there’s less screen to break.
I have yet to use all the space on an 80GB Classic. If the reason you’re getting the new device is because you’ve used up 16GB over time, then go with the Touch. If you have just tried to cram all of your stuff into that iPhone of yours and wound up realizing that there was not enough room, consider the classic again.
Something about the Classic gives off that feel of sanity that I just would not be able to get from the iPod Touch. Every day, I would gripe about “Well, this could be an iPhone… but it’s not…” The Classic just seems to feel like the thing that you listen to music on and watch videos with, and the Touch just feels like a phone that isn’t a phone that can do that as well.
@Fred931 yeah, i totally agree with you. it actually got me thinking that, hey, i already have a touchscreen gadget so i might as well get a different one. thanks!
@jmmf The only thing keeping me from switching from the Classic to the Touch is the comfort of the feel of the physical device and the spare room to throw stuff at. If I could choose between a tiny house with a lot of stuff and a big house with very little stuff, I would go with the bigger house.
oh yeah, i totally agree with you. that’ s the main thing thats making me reconsider the ipod classic despite the ‘coolness’ of itouch: its itty bitty memory capacity despite offering various features.if only there was a 160gb itouch.
