Get good quality sleep the night before. If you think you’re putting 7–8 hours and still feel tired, you may be suffering from a sleeep disorder, like apnia, that wears your body down even after a long sleep. You should consult with a sleep disorder specialist.
At the time you need to stay awake, and caffeine is not an option, try snacking on chocolates . . . wash your face with cool water . . . do some stretching.
yeah just run around and you’ll feel awake.
Well, Doctor, go for a brisk walk around the block on your break, and drink some water while you’re at it. That should help. :)
Stop going to the bathroom, the constant urge to go will keep you awake. Do jumping jacks to get the blood pumping. Wet your face with cold water.
When we were children trying to pull all nighters, my cousin would spray himself with a water bottle when he caught his eyes closing. When he actually fell asleep, it was my job to spray him which was pretty fun. Just recruit someone to do the same for you maybe?
@All,thank you!.
@limeaide Wet my face with cold water?. I’ve tried that before and I feel fresher after that,but when my wet eyes vaporized it makes me even sleepier.
Go to a local truck stop and they’ll hook you up with speed/crystal meth.
J/K There’s no cure for sleepiness except sleep !
Methamphetamine works although it’s really bad for your teeth, face, heart, lungs & brain not to mention the sores. Maybe you should just try a 20 minute nap and some Chai Tea with Honey.
@limeaide I can either not potty, or do jumping jacks. Both at the same time is not an option! ;-)
Give yourself a couple good, hard slaps to the face.
You’ll thank me later.
@erichw1504 No,but thanks!. Have you tried that yourself?.
@limeaide : Not going to the bathroom will keep you awake, but it has potential health risks so it’s not an overly wise idea ;)
@Trillian lol, I hadn’t thought about that.
@ElleBee I somewhat considered that, but considering not getting enough sleep isn’t good for you either I figured I’d run with it.
It’s of no use to you now, but there are medications (developed for narcoleptics) that will make you feel like you’ve slept enough.
Caffine and cold air. We were issued benzidrine tablets in the Army, but I wouldn’t recommend those.
@Nullo I’m familiar with one…Provigil. non-habit forming
Caffeine and getting to bed early…..not so good at the latter myself
Chronic drowsiness my indicate sleep apnea
Sugar. Try a soda or a candy bar, or if you really have a sweet tooth, both. This isn’t a cure, but just a temporary reliever.
Amphetamines (but only as a last resort for sure)
I think other have said it, but DRINK WATER, dehydration is the leading cause of drowsieness
Keep the temperature low, walk around frequently, perhaps allow yourself with a 5 minute or 10 minute nap every couple of hours.
Most effective for me is Aerobic exercise or Yoga. Yoga breathing and cool down techniques work best. Yoga stretches help me relax. I use to do mediation too; which is great if you can.
A good Yoga teacher can help.
I take Melatoin and it helps.
