In relation to investments, what is a "DES" report?

Asked by Jeruba (56062points) January 29th, 2010

Our financial advisor uses the term and has asked us to provide these for certain investments, but he does not say what it is or what it means, only that the investment firm will know what it is.

Okay, but we want to know too: what is a DES report?

It might stand for Department of Economic Security. It is a state level department in Arizona and Minnesota, the two states that I know of.

@Jeruba If nobody gets the answer by Monday, pm me and I will check with our business librarian and she if she knows.

Thanks, @YARNLADY. I found it for Arizona. It doesn’t seem to exist for California, but good guess—maybe it is a governmental agency of some sort. Very low profile if so.

Our suspicion is that our advisor doesn’t tell us what it stands for because he doesn’t actually know what it is. If it’s that obscure, maybe only someone here who is seriously knowledgeable in investments will know. Regardless, we don’t like to be led blindly, so we want to find out. Thanks, @janbb, I will.
