What's the new meta section?

I’ve taken a pause from Fluther and now that I’m back I’ve seen the new meta question and I didn’t figure what’s it for?

On the front page, there are tabs directly above where the questions start. They say things like “Discussions”, “Orphans”, “Meta”. Click the tab that says “Meta” and you will see the meta questions.
