Are there any on-screen notifications for Caps & Num Lock?

The effect Caps Lock has on text I type is the only on-screen one I know of. I generally keep Num Lock on so I can enter characters from the extended ASCII character set. My keyboard has a separate set of arrow keys for directional control when it’s engaged.

I think it depends on the computer and internet you use. I know for my Sony Vaio, there’s a little box that pops up the the right hand lower corner that tells me which one is on.

I don’t know if this is exactly what you were looking for but you can click this and then click on save file after the pop up box shows up and install it and stuff

Windows has a sound alert for Caps Lock.

Windows 7 Control Panel -> Ease of Access -> Make the keyboard easier to use -> Hear a tone when you press Caps Lock, Num Lock or Scroll lock

Windows XP Control Panel -> Accessibility Options -> Keyboard -> Toggle Keys

Certain applications may provide notification. Textpad, for example, gives a visual indication for the status of Caps Lock as well as Insert/Overwrite mode, but alas, not for Num Lock.

@applesaucemanny & @jaytkay, thanks, both work well: the windows beep (I can’t believe I hadn’t discovered that before) will help when I’m typing large amounts of text and the on-screen window is good for when I just forget it’s on; I wish it was prettier though.
