What is the cutest thing your dog has done?

I have a 5 month old bichon frise puppy who is extremely playful. Last week she went to the groomer for her first “puppy cut.” The groomer said that she did fine with the bath and clipping. However, when it was time to dry her, she proceeded to grab the towel, wrestle with it, and try to “kill” it. It was so cute the groomer took a video of it on her cell phone. What is the cutest thing your dog/puppy has done? Do you think these behaviors have any evolutionary value?

Maybe gross but the wife talked about her tired feet and that she wanted them rubbed but our dog went over and gave her feet a lick and nibble…
I have a spaniel mix, and sometimes she’ll be lying on her side and just start thumping her tail for no apparent reason. If you say anything to her, she thumps it even harder! You’ll walk into a dark bedroom where you can’t really see and you’ll hear “Thump thump thump thump!” when you walk in. Ah…it’s one of those, “You have to be there!”
@phil196662 Smart dog!
Ours do that too, I will be looking for them making a soft calling noise and I will hear this locater thump…
I have two dogs. A giant Great Pyr and a small 40lbs. dog who is totally blind. Together they are super cute. Valentine, my large dog will escort Zombie, the smaller blind dog around so he does not get hurt. They also both give hugs. Big, leaning hugs. They rock.
I have a 5 month old border collie pup & everything she does is cute it says so on the tin.One thing she does is every time I take her for her walks she looks up at me with those eyes, paws my leg & basically demands to be petted before she continues on her merry way. Probably a kind of thank you. She does draw many an admiring glance.
We have a cat that greets us when, she’s usually faster than the dogs but yells just as loud!
He watched the movie UP.
When he went outside to do his business, he could not wait to get back into the house and watch the rest. Running straight to the TV.
My son was sitting on the floor with a turkey sandwich. Prince tried to take a bite and my son moved it away from him. Prince casually circled behind him and stole the sandwich off the plate. For a normally gormless pup, this was a highly intelligent strategy.
She is very gentle with our cats and small children. It’s charming to watch :)
My dog Molly takes her people by the hand – very gently between her teeth – and leads us around in circles. She does this with an extremely pleased air: prancing, ears back, tail propellering, like she’s done something extremely clever by turning the tables on us. So funny.
@janbb 5 vocab points for gormleess!
Edit: She also does this when she’s sleeping.
@phil196662 “Locater thump!” Perfect! That’s exactly what it is! :)
one of my pits and my siamese sleep together every night and cuddle every tnight when it’s time for bed i call the dogs the siamese coming running and they curl up next to each other. it’s really cute
Our dog is about 9 months old. She shakes her tail so hard and fast when she is happy to see me that her entire body wiggles – not even just her butt. The funniest is when she is wagging like this then takes the corner on the tile. She slides, falls and scrambles – all while still wagging away.
Yes @Val123 ; works with a thumper paw as well as a tail… It’s like someone doesn’t want to speak but wants to be found without disclosing there location…
But I like to go around looking and pretend like i didn’t find some one then when they are distracted go back and go Boo ! and they go “Yiiieeeeeeeee rufff…
My dog Molly has been obsessed with seeing her reflection in the dishwasher, stove, and glass on the entertainment center. She just recently discovered it in the TV. She watched her reflection for a while, then went behind the TV to see if that other cute dog was behind there!
Before my puppy was housetrained, she was very good with Wee-Wee Pads. So one day, we were in another room, taking showers, doing work, etc. and we hear jumping. Thinking that it was her regular attempt to grab something from the table that we would soon take out of her mouth, we ignored it. Then, we walk into the kitchen (where she was) and see that she jumped up to take the pad off of the table just so that she could go on it.
Trying to kill a towel would be quite useful training when/if it came to killing prey.
Also, my dog puts his paw up on you when you pat him. I’m not sure why, but it seems like he’s trying to pat us too.
My dog learned to bang his bowls when they are empty. He bangs his claws on the bottom of the bowls to make them clang. He learned this on his own. When he sees you come he quickly backs away looks at the bowls and then looks at you as if saying, “do you see what I’m seeing?” Both bowls sit in a bowl holder and if we don’t hurry he tries to then smack the bowls to what ever room we are in. One time he smacked them all the way to the living room from the kitchen.
Another thing he does is, if I come home and ignore him for more than 10 minutes he will jump up against my legs. (he’s a maltese) And if I continue to ignore him he will park himself in front of me and tries to talk to me. If someone else is talking to me he tries to talk as loud as he can till he is heard. He knows barking gets him completely ignored so he trys to mimic talking.
@phil196662 It’s really funny when she gets into thumper mode. She’ll start thumping, thump for a while, then stop, but if you say anything or make any kind of noise she’ll fire right back up. I want to make a video called, “Auto Tail” only it’s a clap-on, clap-off ad. :) Or yell, “Tail on!” or something. :)
@Val123 Gormless Prince had the same thumper mode.
Hand signal train her @Val123 and make a video for youtube and start with clap-on, clap-off (with an image of your hands) and then show her tail and have friends chant tail-on, tail-off as you give the hand signal- O M G it culd be _soooooo cute…
btw- my cat has a very loud voice when she wants something or someone but she is trained for quiet voice then she just does this little mmrrrrrreeewwww… and I -always praise her when she does it when I want…
I love the sound of a dog’s tail thumping against a wall or the floor. It’s such a happy sound.
@Dr_Dredd ; just like two to five cats romping through the house at full speed!
That would make me smile, too. :-)
In our house it’s more of a sleep aide…
One of my dogs will put her paw in an empty bowl, just to let me know she needs feeding. She will drag the bowl around the kitchen to gain attention, until I fill it with either food or water. It looks so comical.
The other dog will keep touching me gently with her paw, just to remind me it is getting near feed time. When I look at her she will move her head from one side to another as it to say ‘well, are you going to feed me’!!
@partyparty My first dog dragged her bowls around. Occasionally she would knock one over by accident. Not knowing what else to do, she would start barking furiously at it! It had us rolling on the floor. :-)
@Dr_Dredd That’s funny! I used to have a dog who would “protect” her chew bone from the flys! She’d have it out, wait for a fly to land on it then start barking furiously!
My thumper dog and my shepherd always decide they’re going to eat at the same time. One bowl but with two compartments. Thumper dog always hooks her paw in her side of the bowl and drags it away from Dakota. She’ll drag it all over the kitchen. Also, sometimes she lays down on her side to eat. It’s like, How lazy can a dog be?!
And when my husband is gone, she sleeps in his spot…with her head on the pillow! Lazy, spoiled, selfish and noisy is what that squirrel is!
@Dr_Dredd @Val123 Animals never cease to amuse and entertain us do they. What would we do without them?
@partyparty I don’t know how I ever lived without a dog in the house!
@partyparty Well, I can think of a lot of things, actually! Spend less time cleaning floors!
@Dr_Dredd I couldn’t agree with you more.
We had a dog who died just before Christmas , and the house was completely empty over the Christmas period, even though we had a houseful of people.
We got another one as soon as the rescue centres opened after the holidays.
@partyparty It’s amazing how they can become such a part of your life. A literally family member.
@Val123 Yes, that is certainly true. We started off with the one dog (who died), then we got another one (a cute puppy) but she seemed lonely (or was it just me who wanted another dog, ha ha), so we got a second puppy. They are such good friends and follow each other around all the time.
Then I inherited a third dog from my mother-in-law who became too ill to look after her, so I ended up with three dogs. My mother-in-laws dog has since died, and there is a gap, but I still have my two ‘family members’ and I can’t imagine not having them in my life.
How about you? Dogs, cats?
Two dawgs and two cats. The first one was a rescue dog. Then a couple of years ago we got her her own puppy.
I had a dog once, Snuffy, that I had for 15 years. When she passed it really left a hole in the family that….not even these dogs, who I love (except they’re all muddy and running in and out of the house!) can fill…..
