How best to study notes?

Asked by cornbird (1750points) February 2nd, 2010

I am having some trouble studying my notes for school. Does anyone have any great tips on studying notes for university; tips that would make me the top of the class? I will follow your instructions to the letter, but it has to guarantee me an A+

1) Get off the computer.

2) Be sure you are rested and fed.

3) You’re on your own, bird. I hope you have attended class regularly, listened, read the text and absorbed the material. Reviewing from notes should then not be insurmountable.

rewrite key points, and get someone to test you on them

I don’t think any instructions we give you will guarantee an A+. It’s really just about motivating yourself to study as hard as you can. You should study when you are most alert. It also helps to engage as many senses as you can when learning:

Eyes-read the notes.

Ears-record yourself reading the notes and play it back.

Mouth-say the notes out loud repeatedly.

The more processes you use and the more you absorb yourself in what you are studying the more information you will retain, and better results you will attain.

I make notecards. Write the key point on one side and the definition or the details on the other. You can go through them any time and just memorize them. Keep them with you all the time so you can look at them whenever you want!!

-Study the material one the day before it’s needed.
-Always be competitive (other will put you in high regard if you do this very often). You would be seen(especially your tutor) as dominant individual.
-Find and study another source that has correlation with your subject(something that isn’t exist in your book).
-Beings as responsive as possible to every question asked by other people/your tutor(you’ll earn your charisma).
-To study note in easy way you needs to only find the main paragraph rather than focus on the detail. (most of the question always included the main paragraph which explain the root of your note).

That’s all I can tell you. But I can’t guarantee you.

I was going to suggest exactly what @Eap6389 was going to say, this method seems to work for my friends and me

If your questioning it, don’t even bother to study. Look what it did for me. I get B’s…...sometimes…...

There are a few different methods. Cornell always worked best for me. It’s organized enough that I don’t lose track of everything I write, and relaxed enough that one isn’t forced into anything. Here’s a link:

I guarantee nothing, by the way. The actual work is up to you.

When you in high school you’re the best when you get to university you have to compete with all the other bests from other high schools…. I think you need to really delve deep into the subject area and read more than what is offered to get an A+....the library in your university should have more books to read than just the required ones…. read them all then order more from other libraries….To get an A+ in university is special you need to love the subject so much that you’re willing to do more than anyone else…

Buy flash cards, write notes on flash cards, then study flash cards.
