Will Fluther still be around 100 years from now?

Asked by Arp (3521points) February 3rd, 2010

In 100 years, will Fluther even be necessary anymore, or will there be some other source of information more powerful?

This is a fucking joke right? Lose a zero then you’re a little closer to the shelf life.

Fluther will be here as long as there are Jellies

Possibly.

Fluther will still exist. But other powerful source will keep raising since the world will become more competitive.

Olympus Mons, Mars, February 3, 2110 – Fluther Inc. (NASDAQ: FLTH) announced today that it has agreed to acquire Facebook – the global social drama website that allows users to add friends and send them irrelevant applications – for $3.75 billion in a stock-for-stock transaction. Following the acquisition, Facebook will operate independently to preserve its successful brand and unpassionate community.

The acquisition combines two of the largest and fastest lurving networking sites and makes Fluther the largest online community which also helps Facebook with Fluther’s expertise in lurve and organizing questions, creating new models for enlightenment on the Internet. The combined companies will focus on providing a better, more incomprehensive experience for intelligent users interested in creative nonanswers and it will offer new opportunities for professional lurvers to distribute their questions to reach a vast new audience.

@mattbrowne He has seen the future. The future is good. :)

Fluther will run the world ala SKYNET style. Only there will be jelly robots instead of humanoid robots.

As long as people need advice on how to ask their partner if they’re interested in a threesome, and then advice on how to ask the third member, there will be a need for Fluther. Whether “need” translates into “will be” is another story entirely.

Trusting the living present, let’s cease the moment and the moment will echo forever .

The technology will be so different. You won’t need your iPOD and it’s apps. It’ll be built into your glasses or your head. You will need only think and your thoughts will be recorded and beamed out to anyone who accesses them. Our comments will be spoken in our voices, maybe containing video. Maybe even the full sensorium.

Fluther Gods and gurus will attract devoted legions from around the solar system. The fluther feed will be de rigeur for everybody who wants to be anybody. If it isn’t discussed on fluther, it might as well not exist. It goes without saying, that as fluther goes, so go the national elections of any nation.

There will be fluthernappings, and flutherentions. There will be a school of fluth and lurve. Fluther raves and fluther knaves. Even fluther whores. Ah, it will be a glorious future! I have seen it!

Fluthering will take over Tweeting.

Not in the current incarnation, but we the collective, will be a form into a superior entity
—perhaps one that allows chatty or other variety of quesions.

Where do flutherites go to ask dumb, or at least silly, questions?

:-D

Not to sound harsh, but it doesn’t matter to me. I won’t be here in 100 years, and if I am by some freak of nature I doubt I will be able to Fluther let alone pee on my own >.<

I’m just happy I have Fluther here and now. I will enjoy it as much as I can while I can <3

Tenpinmaster's avatar

Maybe Fluther V3.0 or “Virtual Fluter” You will be able to meet the jellies in an interactive holodeck type facility where we can all share our knowledge in a virtual environment. That would be very neat :)

Can we just focus on trying to make sure there will still be a habitable world left in a 100 years ;) You know, nuclear war and such, but the real danger for Fluther will be when Al Gore dies. Who will be around to keep the environment in check, and how will the internet survive without it’s creator?

Tenpinmaster's avatar

@markyy Either that or our rapidly depleting energy reserves. There is a lot that can go wrong in a hundred years. =/

I’ll be long gone (probably by about 90 years) by then. I can barely cope with the technology now. Another generation (2–3 years) of change on the internet will probably leave me unable to relate to it anyway. Another decade is my maximum event-horizon.

I spent six years on another site only to see its owners make it incomprehensible to me overnight. Enjoy while it lasts. If Fluther goes that way, I’ll unplug and go back to books and classical music.

um…I hope so….I’m planning on making it family tradition…you know a hand me down type thing in my will that it must be carried on….lynneblundell will forever be here… unless i change my name of course in the meantime!

Oh really… I just wanted to say BIG LOVE!!!! @mattbrowne

The data base we are establishing here will stay on the internet and continue as long as the internet lasts. Every question and every answer is available on the search engines and will be as long as they exist.

By that time we will have reached Kurzweil’s singularity, and we’ll literally have fluther-on-the-brain.

mattbrowne's avatar

@Dr_Dredd – Humanity will be around. Your kid perhaps to be born next year might live for 120 years or more.

augustlan's avatar

I will be directly implanted in our brains by then. I’m totally ok with that.
