Is it safe to eat my McDonald's leftovers?

Asked by Kokoro (1424points) February 3rd, 2010

A double hamburger has been in the fridge since Friday, and I’m thinking of eating it now along with a McDonald’s cherry pie. Is it still safe to eat?

Personally, I think any food from McD’s is unsafe for human consumption. But I get the feeling that their food is designed to have a shelf life of three years, at least. You’re better off eating the wrappers.

It’s not even safe to eat McDonals’s firsts! Didn’t you see Supersize Me?

Kokoro's avatar

@Judi Sadly I have, but I still continue to eat there. It’s just so tasty. I know… bad, bad Kokoro.

Program 911 speed dial into your cell phone.

Google “pink slime” and get back to me.

Eat it and you’ll probably grow some kind of mutation.

No. No. Why don’t you just go get another one if you really one McDonalds??

You had it in the fridge right?
I’d nuke it for 1 minute in the microwave and eat it. 45 seconds for the pie.
I don’t like to waste food.

It’s likely fairly safe, but even if you think McDonald’s is tasty when it’s fresh, it doesn’t make good leftovers flavor and texture wise.

Taco Bell leftovers are even better.

I think that eating at McD is not safe at all – fresh or leftover but sometime I have no choice to eat there. It’s all painfully artificial but my taste buds are ok. I think you should be fine ;)

@kevbo Ugh. Thanks. I think you’ve ruined all of my past and future fast food experiences.

No problem at all(provided it’s still clean and no molt). It’s better to reheat your food to kill that bacteria/molt.

kevbo's avatar

@shadling21, my own as well, which is significant. Chain grocery store ground beef, too.

ill word it this way: its not much worse for you today than it was for you yesterday.

EDIT: in their small print some place, there is a part that says they cant guarantee that your burger wont have more than trace amounts of feces.

Factotum's avatar

It’s as safe as any other food that you bought hot and then refrigerated, which is to say pretty damn safe.

Kokoro's avatar

Thanks everyone, I ate it. ^_^

I’m still waiting to hear about some fallout. A trip to the emergency room, perhaps. Or maybe it’s straight to the morgue for you.
I jest. Hope it was as delicious reheated as it was when you first bought it.

Kokoro's avatar

Haha @shadling21… thanks, it’s been a few hours and nothing as of yet. Yay.

Bugabear's avatar

It’s never safe to eat anything from McDonald’s

I usually repackage mine into a sealed baggie, and then microwave it to re-heat. I don’t see anything wrong with it.
