Should Daniel go to the family reunion, or not?

Asked by wundayatta (58741points) February 4th, 2010

I’m working on a story called The Plane Ticket. It is fiction (like anyone will believe that now that I’ve made that statement). It’s a story about feelings and coping with feelings—or it’s supposed to be. I have a couple of questions.

First I’m wondering if people could point out the unclear and nonsensical portions or any other ways it doesn’t work. Also, you can tell me if it is about what I think it is about, or failing that, what you think it is about.

But second, I have a plotting dilemma. What should be done with the plane ticket? ‘Cause honestly, I have no idea, and the ticket is burning a hole in my pocket—no, just messin’ wid’ ya!.

I’ve never done this before, so I’m sure I’ll make a fool out of myself, especially since I didn’t proof read the story. I’m flinging it out on the wall to see what sticks. Other than that, be as nasty as you want. I think I’ve got a tough skin when it comes to criticism. There aren’t many who are more critical of myself than I am. (Ok, so that’s a backwards plea for you to be easy on me, LOL).

Thanks for your help.

He should go if you want to continue or have anything new to add about his relationship with Ella

He should go. Dealing with being alone would put things in perspective. Some time to think it out, some time to let it all soak in.

I think he should go to the reunion. I’m not clear on the logistics of the situation – does Ella life in Portland too? Would this be an opportunity for Daniel to meet her?

What I can gauge so far is this bloke is cheating on his wife. He and his lover are kinda nuts. Also, the mention of depression seemed a little haphazardly thrown into the story.

Send him to the family reunion. Make Ella turn up there for some reason, a distant relation, perhaps.
