How come when i listen to music with my " windows media player", the music skips like a damaged cd?

about three minutes into a song the windows media player will freeze up and the music will skip like a broken record and the only way i can get it to stop is by manually shutting off my computer. Will shutting off my computer this way cause problems in the future?

Honestly I am really sure it sounds like a virus or the like.

Have you tried doing scans?

Or you can try and re-install your WMP or try and download and install the latest one to see if that works.

Yeh you might have a virus or mabye you need to update your version of windows or find a new software
