Why is my Safari browser getting so laggy?

Asked by kevbo (25672points) February 7th, 2010

I’m running Safari 4.04 on a Core 2 Duo Mac with 2 GB of RAM. Lately, if I leave windows and tabs open for a few days Safari gets super laggy (beach ball) and the HDD starts spinning. Eventually, it will catch up so that I can perform subsequent actions, but it’s really annoying to have to deal with. If I close all windows and tabs and restart Safari it’ll go back to normal, but I shouldn’t have to do that every time. Any ideas?

Do you use your Disk Utility program regularly? That helps with all kinds of mysterious problems. I am amused that I am able to offer advice.

I will bet you a beer that Flash is the problem. I would suggest using ClickToFlash.
