How does one become a self righteous fluther moderator ? does it take special training or is just being an asshole suffecient ?

Yes, they are all assholes and hate every single one of us. It’s a by-product of them being given millions of dollars, free soda and a magic flying cape when they sign up to moderate on Fluther.

I see that this is your first question. I also note that you have only written one quip response to a question which was removed because it was inappropriate and trollish.

You should know that Fluther is not like other places on the internet. We are here to learn, educate and have quality dialogue. We do not tolerate trolling.

We have some current members who started off just as you have right now- assuming that Fluther was just another site to vent the worlds frustrations upon or stir up like an anthill. Then they realized that Fluther is a place to expand your mind. Once they joined in and dropped the hostility they have become members who contribute positively and are respected.

It is your choice if you wish to exercise your mind and join us. But if this is all you have to offer there are a lot of other sites out there that I am sure you find are more to your suiting.
If you do stay please read our guidelines before posting anything further. They will give you an accurate idea of what Fluther is about.

Welcome to Fluther. Perhaps you need to spend some time lurking to get the feel of the place.

I have had answers removed and even questions moderated. It is not something to take personally.

Perhaps if you stick around for a while, you will like it.

All fluther moderators undergo rigorous asshole training, including a multipart course on “How to Stifle Free Speech”, “Abusing Your Power”, “Playing Favorites: Beyond Nepotism”, and a 3-hour master class, “Making New Users Suffer”.

Why do newbies to Fluther feel that they can come on and start pontificating about what’s wrong with the site before sticking around and learning the culture?

You seem to be on your way to fulfilling all of the supposed requirements of being a mod.

@andrew if being a self-righteous asshole is the first qualification for being a mod then I don’t know why I am not a mod yet. I can ace all the classes you offer! I think you’ll find I am head of the class in “Abusing Your Power” my children will attest to this if it helps my case.

@ruthfluther I have never, not one single time as a Jelly, had any experiences that would remotely qualify any of the mods as assholes, self righteous or not. I find it difficult to believe that, after answering a single question, you have come to this conclusion.

Well since I’m just an ass-hole but am not self-righteous I’m only a lowly chat mod. I’m practicing and have been reading the self-righteous/passive aggressive handbook that @andrew distributed during orientation, so maybe someday I’ll be able to wield the power of mod all the while being self-righteous and better than everyone else. Right now I’m only better than most people so I still need some practice.~
