Why doesnt Facebook support textile markup the way Fluther does?
You’d think this would be an easy fix for them to do. Do they believe the great masses of Florida housewives wouldn’t be able to figure it out?
Doesn’t the original designer of Fluther (Mark Something?) work over there at Facebook? Wouldn’t he have thought of this?

^^^^ Definitely. Why hasn’t Facebook made a dislike button, albeit huge demand for exactly such a thing? Facebook makes its money via advertising. They’re in it for the bottom line. If it isn’t broken, then don’t fix it.
Oh no. No dislike button. Just Textile markups.
I’m just saying they don’t add the dislike button for the same reason they don’t add the markup. They already have everyone hooked, and with the apps they don’t even have to write, its self-sustaining. Its a HUGE money machine. Why would anyone with a stake in it tinker with that?
It always amazes me that facebook design, navigation, and support is so crappy. It’s a huge site, with way more money than Fluther. You’d think it could be at least as good as this site!
And, I don’t know if I agree that they exhibit an “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” attitude. They make loads of changes that people hate, seemingly every time I turn around. What’s up with that? Why expend all that energy on stupid ‘upgrades’ rather than actually improving the site?
The upgrades are superficial. They, like you already said, do little to actually improve the site. Doing something that could improve the site involves risk. Vaguely changing the layout of your home page every 6 months to a year does not.
definitely,Facebook is huge site.
Just to let you guys know, in Facebook chat you can make things bold by writing something with asterisks around the text. Other than that, I’ve tried making things italic. It doesn’t work.
