Both. Because I said so.
Seriously though, the guy usually hogs the armrest.
Both.
Because I’m a bitch.
The one next to the wall, or side – because no one else can have it.
The one on the end of the aisle, because that’s where I always sit. There is no battle for possession of that one.
@phoebusg jinx.
It depends. If you are on the left (facing the screen) side the section yours it the left one and vice versa. This way everyone has an arm rest and the people on the ends don’t get two. You there is an odd number of seats in a row the person dead center gets two.
it seems that no august members of the UN are wasting their time tonight on fluther. or maybe they are.
The one that’s not being used.
I generally am the first to sit down in an aisle so the right one, unless someone strange is sitting there. If that’s the case I got the left one cause someone I know is sitting in that seat and they don’t mind if we cuddle.
@SeventhSense In other words, if you can get your arm on the armrest before your date, it is yours.
First come, first serve? Is there some sort of social rule to this? Can a stranger get upset if you “steal” his armrest mid-movie?
Whichever one is available. If none are,I will start to flap my arms like a chicken until someone makes the right choice. If they are slow to catch on,I will add in the chicken noises…loud chicken noises.I refuse to be cooped up at the theatre!
The Vulcan Science Directorate has determined that both belong to me.
Mainly because I come early and spill fizzy drink on both neighbouring seats.
@lucillelucillelucille i want to give you more than one GA but i can’t. So I’ll go to your account and GA some previous answers of yours others have unfortunately overlooked.
I want the one on the right, and will put my arm on it even if your arm is already there. Couldn’t care less about the one on the left, feel free to use it if we ever go to the movies together.
The theatres here (not the cheap ones that play old movies) have 2 arm rests per chair :)
I take the back of the persons chair in front of me for a foot rest. that is all. occasionally I’ll use the right armrest, I am right handed.
I’ve never considered this before, you’ve got me thinking now, good question Dan.
I wouldn’t be surprised if quite unconsciously I hog both armrests, mea culpa. Apologies to anyone who was sitting next to me at the time, next time don’t be so polite.
The right, easier access to the drink.
@Adagio So that was you? Stop hogging the armrests!
Am I the only person who doesn’t use either?
Whichever is comfortable and allows me to keep out of someone’s personal space.
@JONESGH Frequently that means neither.
@drhat77 -Ah say, thank you!said in the voice of Foghorn Leghorn:))
The Vulcan Science Directorate has informed me they both belong to ragingloli. Besides, I’m not even sitting next to her in that sticky seat.
They’re both mine, unless someone else get one first. And if they do, well I just take off my shoes, put my feet on the chair and rest my arms on my knees. I can’t very well let just one arm have the arm rest, can I?
Both. The seat next to me is mine too, I use it to put my stuff on.
I rarely go to theaters to see movies, but when I do, I go early enough to choose a seat where there is no one next to me, and I keep it that way, if possible.
Whichever one my wife and daughter don’t use (I’m generally in the middle). Sometimes that means neither.
None. I put my arms/hands in my lap.
Both
Let it be known that if someone even dares to touch my arm rest, he/she shall receive the sharp elbow of doom in his/her stomach.
Both of them. I only would sit on the end of the row.
I prefer to rest my elbow on the left one, with my right arm relaxed at my side… but really it’s no biggie.
As long as I don’t have someone kicking the back of my seat I’m happy.
I get the one between me and my husband. That way he can fend off the strangers.
I hold the popcorn with my right hand, so the one to the left is mine to rest my popcorn shovel.
