Firefox problem: New tabs show up before previously opened tabs on my tab bar?
I had to wipe out my computer and start from scratch, so I had to reinstall Firefox, natch. It’s not that big of a deal, but I got used to having new tabs show up at the end of my tab bar, and now they show up somewhere in the middle. Is there a setting to change this?
You’re probably confused… I’ll try to explain better.
Let’s say I have two tabs open. If I go back into the first tab and open a link, a new tab will open after the first tab, and before the second tab. I want the new tab to open as the third in the list.

Not sure, but mine does this too. I like it in that I don’t have to navigate all the way to the end of the tabs to see the new one. (I have like 6 different windows open, each with like 50 tabs open….)
Wait – if I go Ctrl+t, it opens a new tab at the end of everything, whereas if I right click on a link on a page, it opens it to the right of the current tab. Is that what yours does? My Firefox is v3.6.
Strange, that shouldn’t be happening… I would just suggest reinstalling FF.
This is a new behavior in Firefox 3.6. It bugs the shit out of me too. I’m looking for a fix.
Digs around in about:config
@johnpowell At least it’s not just me (that’s having the problem and that’s pissed off by it). If you find a fix, please keep me posted :)
Until then, oldversion.com is calling my name.
@johnpowell Thanks. I toggled, and it worked! Now I’m off to figure out how to change the red underline for misspelled words.
It is insane they made this change without putting the option in Preferences—>Tabs.
I’m off to file a bug report.
The tabs are annoying; I disabled them.
@thriftymaid I used to be in that camp… back in 1998! They are so convenient. So much better than having 15 simultaneous pages open.
@buckyboy28 I just found them to be annoying. I never have more than a couple of pages opened so it works for me. Thanks for the pep talk though. :)
