What are some fashionable, quality alternatives to Skullcandy headphones?

Asked by ParaParaYukiko (6116points) February 22nd, 2010

I got some Skullcandy Skullcrusher headphones for Christmas, and after about 3 weeks of light use they stopped working correctly. I sent them back to the company, but when I got the (free) replacement they were the wrong style! I’m sending them back for yet another replacement and juping hoping I’ll get right ones this time. Yet at the same time I have been hearing endless horror stories of how easily Skullcandy headphones break.

I have to admit I’m a sucker for how cool those Skullcandies look, but I want some high-quality earphones that won’t break for no reason. I don’t know of any other company that makes fashionable, cool-looking headphones that both sturdy and have good sound quality. Any suggestions?

The Koss Portapros are pretty much make-or-break based on style/look, but they are $30 on Amazon and sound great! I love my pair whether they look bad or not!

If not your taste, a good pair of Sennheisers would be a great choice.

Agh I definitely know what you mean about them breaking. I bought some Skullcandy Lowriders and they broke in a week. Was really bummed about it because they looked cool. As for new ones, my friend has the solo HD by Dre that @RareDenver mentioned, but they’re a bit too expensive for me.
If you’re looking for something cheap, a bit more sturdy, but still cool looking and pretty high quality I’d go with Nixons or Wescs

Hmm, if you’re looking for over ears there’s not much I can do for you. However, with earbuds, V-Moda Vibes have that industrial design, and in my opinion have lasted a lot longer than Skullcandy, with better sound quality. I’ve never had any issue with mine.

Seconded on the V-Modas and the Koss Porta Pros…you might also look into Klipsch Image S4.
