What do you mean by “This”?

MrGV's avatar

Yes, if you were to hook the Ethernet cord directly from the modem, you will have connection. (In order for this to work you will have to have internet access through DSL/Cable/Satellite btw.)

That’s what “this” was? How did you know, @MrGeneVan?

Are you saying you don’t have wireless at your house? (You don’t have WiFi?)

If you don’t have wifi, then the wireless adapter for the xbox will not work, unless you mooch of your neighbors wifi.

MrGV's avatar

@dpworkin Haha I just took a guess at what he/she was trying to say.

@All What I am trying to say is, no, i dont have a wireless network at my house. But sometimes, I can get internet on my ipod outside.

MrGV's avatar

@xboxfan So you’re trying to say you have no kind of internet at the house? And you want to mooch off of her people’s wireless using the Xbox? (If this was the case, I recommend you not do it because all the games you play will be laggy as hell.)

You have highspeed internet at the house, but you don’t have a wireless router.

xboxfan's avatar

@MrGeneVan Yes, I have 2 computers. I have my own. (this is my computer that i am using right now) Yes, the second one. And yes, I dont have a wireless router

@xboxfan Do you only get wifi outside? Test with your iPod around the xbox. Unless you want to move your xbox outside, I wouldn’t waste the money on a wireless adapter. Just get a long enough network cable. A wired connection will be much faster and much more stable.

If you want to connect your Xbox wirelessly I recommend you getting a router and a wireless adapter for the Xbox and not mooch off the neighbors for a better gaming experience.

@MrGeneVan About how much are they? (I live in the USA. Virginia Beach)

MrGV's avatar

Routers usually ranges from 40–100 dollars

Here are some Wireless Routers for sale at Best Buy.

You will also need to account in the cost of the adapter for the xbox. (Which should have just came with wifi capabilities, but I digress…)

Why are you wanting to switch to wifi all of a sudden?

kyle94481's avatar

@MebiByte Haha, do you favor the Sony?

@ OP, I agree with getting a wifi router if wireless is a must, heres an alternative wireless idea.

Although you must pay more money.

@kyle94481 I currently only have a Wii. I had a 360, and want one now. I had a PS2. I’m not that biased, but I see problems in all that should be fixed.

kyle94481's avatar

@MebiByte I currently own the whole axis of evil, minus a ps2.

@All Oh well, I’ll just see what I do. Thank you guys
