really? I thought that could be but in the song Ben says that he’s chillin’ with his homie Dr. Dre so that threw me off.
wouldn’t that make sense he’s chillin with his homie dr dre? Just some name recognition to a legend, that’s all.
cool. Thank you very much.
is that ben folds version any good?
Man… I love random covers. Someone out there should do a cover of “damn it feels good to be a gangsta” (geto boys) unless there is one out there.
the song is sung with other people… so when they are chilling with said PHd it is another rapper on the track
I have to say that I love it because of Ben’s semi-ethereal voice. The content of the song juxtaposed with Ben’s ethereal voice is hilarious in its abnormality. I love it. I want to hear the original.
… it’s just a white guy, hardly ethereal.
as for the original, don’t bother. ben folds’ version is much better
I haven’t even heard bens version but the original will always be better. Hands down. I’ll check it out though, thanks riser.
damn klingon, i waited 5 minutes for you to craft your response and this is all i get?
p’tahk
when you listen to white guys like rob halford or joey ramone all day, because of your writing partner, ben folds’ voice becomes very ethereal. :p
hah I heard some of it. Its funny but and way different from the original so you really can’t say ones way better than the other.
Whos Klingon? What the fuck is that
i listen to tom waits and tom carvel of the tom carvel ice cream store. how’s that for ethereal?
@Hnak: i think he was referring to your username… it does sound really Klingon. p’tahk is a common Klingon insult, it means someone who makes a mess of things. usually implying you are a poor warrior
@ shockvalue: You got me beat sir – hands down. :)
I dont get it, but it sounds pretty dorky. Poor warrior? Mess of things? Ay yi yi my username is oh so controversial and nERDY.
My username (just to clarify) is the first letter of my name (hannah) and nak is the first three letters of my last name which I won’t spell out because its long and freakin Japanese.
Yep
So ptak to yall’ haha?
I’m already looking forward to Derlium’s response. I always do. And I mean that as a complement Delerium.
Another very good cover is the Jonathan Coulton remix of the “I like big butts…”
AND NOW I’M INTIMIDATED. Ahahaha. ;)
Now i have to think of something interesting to say…. Uhmm… I once translated this song and sang it for a spanish class assignment when i was in Highschool.
haha. Yeah I wanted to answer before you so the pressure would be on. :p
Richard Cheese. Anyone heard of him?
he covered disturbed in the new “Dawn of the Dead,” brilliant.
nothing says i’m going to come back to life and eat you like lounge metal.
@ shockvalue: I wish I knew you when I was in the bay. You would have had an admiring minion at your beckon call. Haha
FLAG AS ABUSE! is riser offering to be shockvalue’s sex slave?
hahahahahah. Woah! Miaunderstanding! Minions and gimps are two different things.
Haha. I guess I shouldn’t post on here on pain meds haha (back injury)
Haha that’s funny.
Yeah right back injury… Jk
pass some pain meds ova hurrr.
listen klingon, that type of spelling is what will ruin fluther. please, refrain from the IM jargon
I’m an iPhone user. I can understand the IM mentality out of sheer convenience.
@thankgodforbeef: aaahaha, i do agree with your statement, however i am sure there are kinder ways to make your point. bitch
ouch, first I’m a Klingon… Now I’m some dumb ass. I’m tired, do I have to sound all intellectual and whatnot!?
bitch please!
beck and call
I suppose “Gin and Juice” by The Gourds is old news. Still a sweet cover.
If you like these funky rap covers there are a kot of cool ones out there; ine of my all-time favorites from ‘back in tge day’ (I believe it was a Wednesday):
Tricky: Black Steel In the Hour of Chaos (old school cover of a Public Enemy classic)
…and I think Beck has some cool ones too.
in case anyone’s interested, : D
ben actually did this song to show how rappers (etc..) can make these “songs” and no one really notices what he says. but ben turns it around and changes the melody and he gets all the bad looks.
