What are some home-remedy-type-stuff that I could try on these sensitive teeth?

Asked by ChocolateReigns (5624points) March 1st, 2010

Please don’t say “go to the dentist” right off the bat. I am going to. But I need something that I can try right now, because this really hurts to eat and stuff. When I bite something, soft or hard, or even just clamp my jaw down tight on that one spot, it hurts. In the tooth. It’s kinda hard to describe it. I’ll be going to the dentist later this week.

Orajel or similar teething gel used for babies….or if you want to concoct something natural, mix 2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil with 2 drops essential oil of clove and swab to affected area as often as necessary.

have you ever tried colloidal silver? that’s a home-remedy. it kills everything like bacterias, viruses and things.

Definitely Orajel for immediate relief. Check this site out for more long term solutions:

toothpast for sensitive teeth should be a short term answer, when you go to the dentist have them check your gums. receding gums can cause pain and the food culprits are things like acid foods- lemons and some sodas.

Take care of your teeth!

Aluminum foil has been known to work in a limited number of cases.

these answers pertain to sensitivity and I think you mean pain from pressure, right? If so, I can.t think of anything but sticking with soups and smoothies.

@Aster Not really. It turns out I had a cavity when I asked this question and that was causing the pain from pressure. But now (and then, too) I have sensitive teeth, so it hurts whenever I eat anything hot or cold.

Oh, ok. Well, then, Sensodyne toothpaste should stop all the sensitivity in a week or less. Good luck!

@Aster I’ll have to get some of that. Hm…
