The greatest movie cowboy, someone who is instantly identifiable as the iconic western hero. For me Eastwood wins hands down, but who do you rate as the best & which movie for you seals the deal?

Gary Cooper gets the nod for me.
I’ll go with Eastwood as well
I haven’t really watched any Wayne movies.
They were all B-movies, but somehow Eastwood turned them into more than that.
I love Clint Eastwood and like many of his movies.I love John Wayne as well.“The Shootist” is onew of my favoreite movies and I also like d“True Grit” .They were manly men.Wooooof! :))
All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes!
Eastwood in Unforgiven, and The Good The Bad and the Ugly.
Wayne in Stagecoach, The Searchers, and True Grit.
The Coen brothers are remaking True Grit with Jeff Bridges. It sounds great, but has enormous shoes to fill.
I don’t know y’all. I think Scott Glenn is a pretty good and believable cowboy, and so was that sexy guy from The Abyss, I’ll think of his name in a minute.
Michael Biehn as Mike Cassidy? Better known as Kyle Reese?
@Shuttle128 Ooo yes, good one. And Powers Booth. Hoo-ah! Billy Zane, not so much! ;-)
I’ve always been a serious Clint Eastwood fan so he’s my number one pick. Some of his standout performances that I’ve enjoyed the most were in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, Unforgiven, Pale Rider, and The Outlaw Josey Wales.
