What terrible movies exist that could be remade into far better than the original work and how would you do it?

Asked by Captain_Fantasy (11447points) March 1st, 2010

Normally I absolutely detest remakes. The unoriginality of remakes bugs me profoundly.
Yet I’ve seen the original Clash of the Titans and that movie was ass at best.
The new one just reeks of awesome. Less togas, more awesome. That’s a good formula.

I want to remake the new Star Wars movies into an intergalactic version of fuedal Japan.
Less talk + more fights = more awesome.

Idiocracy. It was too grandiose for Mike Judge’s abilities.

The Da Vinci Code.
What….. was….. that?

It was so terrible, I could replace the actors with spatulas and probably make it better.

I don’t know if they were really that bad, but I would remake all of the Harry Potter movies, keeping them very true to the original books. So what if they are long?

I would also have to remake the last two Matrix movies with better stories and a lead actor who has more than one or two emotions.

My girlfriend LOVED the Matrix, and I couldn’t get past the posing – you’re going into a gun fight and you have time for a sexy leather outfit, sunglasses and hair gel?

??

Anything made by Michael Moore. Or…

I once watched a documentary where the maker of the documentary was in every single shot throughout the whole film. I forget what the name of it was, but it was The Worst Film Ever. It had so much potential, but was so poorly executed. Wish I could remember the name.

Twilight.
I’m not obsessed with that movie, and thats probably why i didnt like it that much. I think that it would be better if they just had different people acting in that movie.

I think there should be a Buffy/Twilight crossover where Buffy wins.

Logan’s Run. I’d actually do the movie like the book was written.

The Dragonball movie made me actually angry, it’s like they did not even try. Yes I know DB is already lame, but I admired it as a kid and to see it so poorly done with the actors and technology we have now was disappointing. There should have been bulkier actors, better special effects and a longer storyline, but I’m sure there just wasn’t enough money put into it anyways because it has a low fanbase.

Remake the 2009 Star Trek movie. And by that I mean a completely different plot that actually has some substance, different actors, and a more authentic Enterprise.

And the creature that dared to defile dragonball with that movie must be disemboweled alive.

Bubba Hotep. All the actors should be hammered on scotch and speak only with their mouths full of crackers. It’s the only way that movie would work.

The one Batman movie with Val Kilmer and Nicole Kidman. The twitching harelips on those two could have been their own characters during close ups.

Avatar. Make the message less ham-fisted, focus on writing instead of visuals (unobtanium? was this written in a high school drama class?) make the aliens better looking. I’ve read that Cameron wanted people to find them sexually attractive. If you find the Navi or however it’s spelled sexually attractive, please tell me where you buy your drugs .

And make the physiology biologically consistent. A lot of animals in the movie had 6 limbs, so naturally the navi should have 6 limbs as well. This disregard for science is infuriating.

Eragon. The movie was absolute shite and I absolutely loved the book(s). Different actors, not changing the storyline to something mangled and atrocious, basically just sticking to what the book was. They deviated so much it was disgusting. And terrible.
