How can I get rid of the smell of smoke? (Burning).
I had a contained apocalypse: I’ve opened all the doors and windows so there’s lots of air going through everything, but it is still lingering. =/
Febreeze?

Vinegar works very well to combat smokiness or burnt odors. Mix a cup of vinegar, a cup of water and a teaspoon or two of liquid fabric softener. Spray at will.
Febreeze isn’t very good, the smell soon fades. Can you just wash everything in the room and keep dusting until eventually the smell goes? What happened?
@Dibley It is strange what happened =/, an accidental occurrence involving quality street tins, envelopes and ignition, luckily I was near the bath… =)
I am very tired.
But it seems to be getting better just letting the air go through, and I will clean things, thankyou.
@fathippo Hope you had eaten the chocolates first?!
@gemiwing This strange fluid actually works…(!) (It seems) I wasn’t too sure at first it looks pretty disconcerting… (I need to wipe the walls…) But it smells a whole lot better.
@Dibley Don’t worry, no chocolate was put to waste. =)
Didley and Gemiwing give good advise. If this does not work, call ServiceMaster, Servpro, etc. And, if the cost is a problem after getting an estimate from these service providers, call your insurance agent.
Sprinkle baking soda where you can, leave overnight and vacuum. Also leave bowls of water around the place. Water will absorb the smell. Hope your place gets back to normal asap.
@fathippo I’m glad it’s working for you. It’s safe to re-apply as needed.
Light a mat.. oh, wait.. that’s for poop smell..
If this is the result of a fire, you may never get rid of the smoke odor. In this case, spraying items will be futile, they must be cleaned.
