How long did it take you to get over your high school sweetheart?

I would so like to write something sweet here. However, in high school I was a drugged up, nightmare, gang member… so it was more of a shag & run situation.

Not long at all. I went to college the next year 3,000 miles away, and while we wrote to each other faithfully, our lives moved on.

A few days, when I met someone else.

We dated, went water skiing together, ate dinner at her parents house so many times. it was magic. her dad thought we were getting to be too serious with each other, so he politely asked for a transfer to another Kroger store, some 250 miles away. for a while, i made the trips to see her. then i had car problems and that just about ended our togetherness. her father won and i hated him for this. we never really got over each other. she was working in Atlanta at a tv station, but that was 15 years ago. hope this gives you some idea of how the memories linger.

@john65pennington thats sad but at least you have good memories, I didn’t have a highschool sweetheart but my friend has been dating her high school sweetheart for 4 years and she’s afraid it wont last because shes at college for 4 years about 5 states away, I suggested she move on, I don’t understand why or how you could marry someone you dated in high school, I’m not against it, I just don’t understand it.

Not long at all, we were just kids then and hard to get a real close “thing” going being driven on your dates by the parents.

I do not think I ever will. And more like elementary.

I never got over him so I married him in 1964.

Well,,,, she was a big girl so it was a bit of a climb, Lol ;-)

Do we ever get over our high school sweetheart? I don’t think so…and that’s what makes life sweet, really.
