What are fire pit regulations in San Francisco?

Asked by dianalauren (251points) March 6th, 2010

I’d like to get a small fire pit (with a screen top) for my courtyard in San Francisco, and can’t seem to find out about whether its legal. I have a lot of neighbors who can see into my courtyard and might call me out if its illegal. Anyone know?

Legally you can have a fire pit in SF so long as you observe the spare the air laws.
That won’t stop your neighbors from complaining.
Oh how homeowners in SF love to complain.

Walk up to a firestation (not near your home) and ask.

Unfortunately, No drum circles allowed isn’t one of them.

And Spare the Air seems to occur any day the wind drops below 30 mph and always on clear, temperate evenings.
