It’s been a while, but I did a semester at City College, which is near Ingleside. If it’s the neighborhood I’m thinking of, it’s a fairly nice one (middle class at least), quite residential with houses that have lawns and such (rather than apartments). Not too sure about coffee shops or other shops.. I remember there being some, but it’s probably changed since I lived in the city 10 years ago.
Anyway, that’s all rather vague, so here are the neighborhood demographics.
You can also go to Google Maps and take a look at the satellite imagery of the neighborhood, which might give you an idea of the kinds of homes and what all is nearby.
You should consider Daly City which is not very far South. Check MissAnthropy’s map. Living in SF is a highly overrated experience for a number of reasons, not the least of which being the ridiculous parking situation.
Awww, bah humbug. I grew up in SF and it’s a really amazing city. If you’re looking at living in Ingleside, there should be parking. Now, if you’re wanting to go downtown or something, you might want to consider taking Muni for considerably cheaper (parking is expeeeeensive), more stress-free travel. SF has one of the best public transportation systems of any place I’ve lived and I rode it for many years.
I lived there for a while. It’s pretty nice depending on what block you’re on. That’s easy to guage by the amount of window glass in the street. Lots of cool little shops and stuff within walking distance and great muni access.
I have driven through that neighborhood before, and was not very impressed by it. It is close to SF State, and there are some good shop on Ocean ave. There are much better neighborhoods to check out in SF. I am quite fond of Noe Valley.
Thanks all. Very helpful.
