Rest, and vitamin C/fluids.
Drink plenty of fluids and get plenty of rest.
No drinking, smoking or tomfoolery, please.
This might be a flippant answer but don’t get one in the first place. Colds are caused by a virus and getting over them is mainly a function of immune system response, not drugs consumed. Yes, there are some anti-viral drugs but not for everyday use with the common cold. Sleep right, eat right. If you want drugs for symptom relief they are out there and they do work but you are not actually over the cold sooner. Zicam is a popular one.
I had what I thought was a cold last week.I rested ,took vitamin C,zinc and lysine.Turns out I had the flu ;)
Studies are showing that fluids don’t make a difference.
Rest is #1. Allowing your body to heal itself.
Nasal saline irrigation will help relieve the sinus pressure.
It has to run its course. Some of the symptoms can be treated, but won’t make you recover faster. You do have to watch out for secondary infections (like pneumonia). Rest, fluid balance and good nutrition are about all you can do.
Thanks for all of your answers everybody :)
oh and @smokeweedeveryday, I had swine flu haha it sucked :(
One advantage to being an old fart: I had the swine flu last time it went around (in 1968), so I’m immune to this round.
Echinacea and Emergen-C can shorten the duration of a cold.
Move on, there are plenty more colds out there waiting for you.I’m sure you’ll find the one for you someday.Good advice not to be sniffed at.
I love the idea of having chicken soup. Any excuse to have soup is a good one. ;-)
And cake
