Did 'Giants' exist?
I don’t mean tall or very tall people. I mean GIANTS!!
This video got me wondering. As well as knocking me sideways!
Your thoughts please.

Scary stuff indeed.Fee fi fo fum I smell the blood of a New Yorker.Nah doesn’t have the same ring to it somehow.
I know neanderthals (I don’t know if I spelled that right) were a little bigger than humans, they had bigger bones and such but those look huge! I wonder what those could be…
The art works are evidence of nothing. For example, it has been the convention in many traditions, such as the Egyptian, to depict some beings (kings, gods, and god/kings) larger and others (commoners, slaves) smaller. People have always imagined larger and smaller beings that otherwise look just like themselves.
Anyone can fashion a large footprint in mud. Anyone can make a nice big bone out of plaster and paint it and then pose with a shovel. Nothing convincing there.
At least one of the photographs is one I recognize from Ripley’s Believe-It-or-Not from years ago to show how small someone was next to a normal-size person.
If you want to see how photographs can make some people look larger than life and others miniature, you don’t have to watch the making of The Lord of the Rings. Just look at a family dinnertable shot from Thanksgiving. Giants! Midgets!
What would a creature who was twice or three times as tall as us really have to look like? They couldn’t just be a bigger “us.” Stephen Jay Gould wrote an essay on this. For one thing, the legs would have to be proportionally much larger and stronger to support the weight above. Gould did the math, but I don’t remember it.
I don’t see any inherent reason to suppose that we are exactly the “right” size for our body configuration and that we couldn’t be a little larger (Watusi) or smaller (Pygmy). After all, our own “normal” range is pretty broad. And maybe there are or have been “giants.” But this slideshow of images doesn’t constitute anything like proof .
Robert Wadlow was 8’11”. That’s a giant no matter how you want to look at it – he was one inch away from 9 feet, and was still growing at the time of his death so who knows how big he could have gotten had he not died young. Maybe not a giant in the mythological sense, but still a giant.
Not in the “Clash of the Titans” sense. There would have been fossils.
The possible exceptions being two men named John Flansburgh and John Linnell.
They might be giants.
Watched the video. Fake.
No such thing exists in the anthropological community.
Now I want the 32 seconds of my life I spent watching that video back.
interesting, Geoffrey of Monmouth claims that when Brutus the Trojan landed in Albion (Britain), it was indeed inhabited by giants, he then proceeded to heroically rid the land of this scourge, in order to prepare Albion for colonisation. i always assumed this to be propaganda.
