She won’t be able to defend herself anymore(especially from direct threat). This could lead her to injure her paw as she naturally will scratch some object with claw to mark her territory. No claw means no ability to climb and avoid danger.
Cons to having your cat declawed
First of all, this is a painful operation. Cats might not display much pain because of their natural instinct to appear strong and invulnerable. The procedure is so traumatic to some cats that they undergo a personality change. They might become more fearful, realizing their first line of defense is gone. They might also begin to bite, since they can no longer scratch.
Some declawed cats will stop using the litter box, and since they can no longer mark their territory by scratching, they might revert to copious spraying. Declawing sometimes changes the way a cat walks, which could eventually lead to arthritis. Owning a declawed cat is a real commitment to always being diligent to keep it indoors, away from dogs, aggressive felines and other predators.

Pain. agony and a guilty conscience.
Side effects are similar to what you might experience if you had amputation of all your fingers at the first joint, which is the anatomical equivalent.
The swelling may be from infection and it may be that they had the bandages on too tight immediately after the surgery, cutting off circulation.
If the paw is truly that large, the cat needs to be hospitalized, preferably at a specialty hospital rather than at the clinic where the surgery was done.
You being called an inhuman cat torturer.
