i believe it’s the law they must have been born in the US.

Every US president has been born in the US. Including George Washington, who was born In Westmoreland, Virginia.

The rule to be a “natural born citizen” was written into the constitution itself.

It was decided to let only natural born citizens be president because the founders just got done fighting off the British, and didn’t want one to become a president.

The Constitution mandates that the president be USA born.

And yes, Hawaii was a state when Obama was born there.
