@Everest there’s some scrub bushes and some trees
Uh, do you even know anything about California?
Nevada is pretty much all desert, but California is far from that. The desert is mainly in Mono, Inyo, San Bernardino, San Diego, Imperial, Riverside, and a little bit of Kern and Los Angeles counties. In other words, it’s located mostly in the southeastern corner of California. That would be the Mojave Desert. The rest of California is not desert.
Many different things. Mountains, foothills, and evergreen forest mostly in the Gold Country and Sierra Nevada region, flat valley in the Central Valley region, coastal hills/mountains and plains in the Bay Area, Central Coast, and Los Angeles region, redwood forest in the northwest corner (and along the coast to about Santa Cruz in various spots), and various forest in the northern sector. There is a little bit more desert in the north as you get closer to the Nevada border in Lassen and Modoc counties.

@DominicX Is right about the hills and stuff, but a good portion of California is desert. 25% according to wikipedia. Which I totally agree with, I live in Kern.
California is nice and diverse. I’m an hour and a half away from surfing, and an hour away from skiing.
California has 25,000 square miles of desert, that’s about 16%.
California has a Mediterranean climate
@Everest Have you ever been to California? If so, where? Maybe then I can understand your thought process more.
Out of the 164,000 square miles, about 25,000 is desert (16%); 45 percent is forested, and the rest mountains, grassland, lakes, rivers and cities. California has both the highest point (Mt Whitney)and the lowest point (Death Valley) in the contiguous 48 states.
@ShiningToast When a figure in wikipedia is ‘uncited’ don’t accept it as valid

@Everest You could try something different on this website. You could try to be pleasant or even neutral. Or you can continue this way. If you want answers, stop attacking people who answer your questions. Your reputation is spreading.
Is there anything more than desert?
From Wikipedia:
California is the third-largest U.S. state by land area, after Alaska and Texas. Its geography ranges from the Pacific coast to the Sierra Nevada mountain range in the east, to Mojave desert areas in the southeast and the Redwood–Douglas fir forests of the northwest. The center of the state is dominated by the Central Valley, one of the most productive agricultural areas in the world. California is the most geographically diverse state in the nation, and contains the highest (Mount Whitney) and lowest (Death Valley) points in the contiguous United States. Almost 40% of California is forested,[6] a high amount for a relatively arid state.
