I need music that says things are creepy or out of place, but not macabre. “Somebody’s Watching Me” is an example.
Thanks!!!

“I’m slipping into the twilight zone”. There was song with those lyrics in it. An 80’s song, I think.
Anything, basically, by this guy. Really, by 55 seconds in, see if you don’t think so!

Look for composers of soundtracks that you’ve really liked that capture this feeling. Why not imdb for a couple of memorable Twilight Zone episodes? Or Twin Peaks or something like that.
A couple of composers that I think might fit your bill:
Clint Mansell
John Murphy (did the 28 Days Later soundtrack)
Night on Bald Mountain by Mossourvsky
Moussorgsky.
“O Fortuna” from Carmina Burana is also a creepy favorite. And there’s this great number from Prokofieff’‘s ballet Romeo and Juliet: “The Montagues and the Capulets,” also known as “The Dance of the Knights.” It just seems to want a dungeon rather than a ballroom or a plaza.
This CD with soundtrack recordings from the films of Alfred Hitchcock should have some great options on it. Bernard Hermann was a master composer of supenseful music.
