I don't trust the bank that services my Visa card. Maybe I should be doing something else. Like what?

Are you trying to replace a debit or credit card? I didn’t like my old bank so I switched to a credit union. Much better. I’m still trying to get a better Visa/MC credit card than my Cap One.
HuffPost has a link to local banks and credit unions by Zip Code.
Credit union and/or USAA. I’m 99% sure you don’t have to be military to use their banking services. They are a fantastic company.
You don’t have to be in the military to get a bank account with a credit union. You just don’t get the convenience of a branch on every corner. Just don’t go to Bank of America. Evildoers.
Some banks that operate credit card services fully deserve to be mistrusted. They are scammers and usurers and dishonest providers. If they are based in Wilmington, Delaware, I won’t even look at them.
If you feel that you are getting screwed (for example, you send your payments on time, but somehow they keep getting posted “late” and you get dinged for outrageous charges and your APR goes up, and the wait on the phone for a real “customer service” person is an hour or more, and then you get disconnected), RUN.
I’m no financial advisor, but I’d say go to your own bank, the one that serves your regular banking business, and ask them for an application. And then read everything carefully and check out customer complaints online.
I second @lilikoi regarding getting your bank card from a credit union.
Find one you like and stick with it as being a valued long time customers does carry some pull when it comes to banking issues or concerns especially negotiating interest rates and penalties.
We have a credit card through our credit union. Only disadvantage is that you generally get the perks like miles and stuff.
