Is there any product or anything you can do to stop a beard itching so much?
anyway, im 27yo and my face had finally decided that it would be cool to grow sharp pointy hairs all over it.
i have had some beard on my chin for a few years now, but only recently is it starting to really grow all over, and the itching can really annoy me at times. anything i can do to soften it or something? thx.

My SO uses conditioner on his beard, and that makes it softer.
I haven’t really found any product that would combat the itchiness. The best thing I have found is to just stick with it, especially if this is the first time you’ve really grown out a full beard. It’ll be irritating for a week or so, and then it will just sort of stop itching, and you’ll feel fine. If you shave it off afterward, and then re-grow it, it’ll only be itchy for a couple days. It just seems like the more you let it grow out, the less you feel the itchiness. After a while you can stop and start a beard whenever you wish, and never really feel itchiness. That’s been my experience anyways. Hang in there!
I haven’t found anything yet
Is it itching after shaving? Or, are you letting it grow and it itches? If you itch and you shave the area, you may want to consider that you are allergic to the product you use to shave. Also, if you are growing the beard more soap may be staying on the area, and if you are allergic, again that could be causing the itch.
Back to shaving, you want to make sure you have a very sharp razor. As a razor dulls, it tugs on the hairs and can make minor abrasions in the skin, which can itch as they heal. So be sure to change your blade often. Using moisturizers and exfoliators will help keep the skin smooth for shaving, but don’t moisturize immediately after shaving, you can even put it on at night while you sleep to repair the skin.
There is a product that is available for chronic scalp itching. It might be used on your face. I’ve not tried it on my face, but it works fine on my scalp.
You can probably also use over the counter cortizone cream, but I would not use it every days for weeks, months, or years.
@JLeslie it itches as it grows, shaving it off is a relief, but after having no facial hair for 27 years it is now growing at a very fast rate. if i shave in the morning it itches by the afternoon.
i guess i could just shave every day, but i am curious to see how i look like with a beard.
@poisonedantidote I have heard other people complain that as hair grows in they itch; I never had that problem. I think buy the cortizone cream and use it for a week, maybe twice a day, or if once is enough, then just do that. After a week you should have substantial growth and hopefully stop itching. If it is going to itch all of the time, even once grown out, you probably won’t want to keep the beard anyway. Are you loosing hair on the top of your head now that you are getting more facial hair?
@JLeslie thanks, no im not losing hair on my head. i even make girls jealous its so thick lol.
i have never been hairy, i dont have any chest hair, any armpit hair, harly any on legs and that. just head and pubes. but these hairs growing on my face are real thick and stiff, its almost like some kind of nilon brush or something.
what makes it itch i think is just the hair rubbing on my skin, neck area and that. maybe if i slim down a little bit i can get rid of some of the friction.
Editted by me for basically repeating what I said earlier.
Oy vey, my brain sometimes.
Use Aveeno anti itch lotion- cheap, works, no ugly smell.
If you go to www.renskincare.com they sell a multi-tasking aftershave balm. It moisturises and calms the skin.
All their products are natural.
