Have you been thanked today?
I would love to hear about the kind gestures that you have made today. Did you help anyone? Do you try to be helpful to those around you? Were you thanked?
Thanks for answering. Hope you have a good night (or day)!

No. I haven’t done anything.
@loser I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question. Thank you! :)
i don’t think i made any nice gestures today but last night, my friend and i were standing outside and this really sweet homeless man came up to us with gorgeous lilies and my friend not only gave him 5 dollars but spoke to him for a few minutes and he was so grateful. it was such a nice thing for her to do!!
I got thanked today but I think it was a polite thank you more than anything.
I trying to think if I thanked someone today. I think I thanked the sandwich guy.
I meant it too. It was a good sandwich shop.
I was thanked by three guys in the back of the classroom who got my explanation of the Camus reading after the instructor got through giving his.
And I thanked the janitorial services woman who was cleaning the school bathroom.
I placed a kid who had a late sign-up on a Little League team, and took the time to call the mom & explain everything to her, gave her the coaches info, practice schedules, and set her mind at ease that her son probably knows no other kids on the team. Doesn’t seem like that big of a deal, but she was relieved and very thankful that I had taken the time to call and talk to her (vs. the usual cold e-mail).
On an opposite note, I’ve been unemployed for a while, and a good friend of mine has found me some work at his firm on a contract basis. I made sure to thank him for the work, when I saw him this afternoon.
I went grocery shopping for a paralyzed person who cannot drive. He thanked me. While I was at the grocery store a woman that looked exhausted and had a crying infant in a car seat had put a bunch of cans of baby formula on the counter and had a WIC coupon. The cashier said the store no longer took wic. I said I’d pay for the baby’s milk and I did.
She not only thanked me, she started crying. I spent over 300 dollars this week on crap I don’t need at all like clothes. That someone would be in tears over some cans of milk brought this woman’s reality into painful focus for me. I take so much for granted.
I had 9 new Boy Scouts thank me for taking them camping in the rain and the mud over the weekend. Each one told me how much fun they had which made every ache and pain of my exhausted muscles melt away.
i work in customer service and i had a pretty average day today. nothing stands out in my mind as spectacular, but nothing as dreadful, either. but the girl that sits behind me, who makes it a habit, like i do, to go above and beyond when possible, had a caller who was so relieved at the simple explanation of her insurance plan and claim handling that she told my colleague she loved her. my friend was so flustered and taken aback that she very nearly replied “uhh… i love you, too” but caught herself in time. she mentioned to me after, that were it not for this woman’s overly-emotional response, this call wouldn’t have stood out in her mind at the end of the day – nothing unusual about it. you never know who you might touch, how you might affect someone by simply taking the time to do your job, and do it well.
All of your responses are putting a smile on my face. Such helpful and kind people you are! you too @loser :)
@Captain_Fantasy You’ve got me hungry for a sandwich now…
Yes,I did.It was unexpected and very nice to hear :)
I was thanked profusely today for something I did a week ago.
I had loaned $5,000 to a friend, they thanked me today and repaid the loan.
I was thanked after I made dinner tonight.
Well, there are a whole bunch of places where I didn’t smoke today, where there are signs posted that say: “Thank You for not Smoking.” Does that count? I’m betting it doesn’t but that’s the best I can do. I haven’t even left the house today except to get my newspaper, mail and to take my recycling down to the curb. Maybe someone should have or would have thanked me for recycling but it’s really not that hard so I don’t think they should.
Several times, Hubby thanked me for the dinner I fixed, and later for making a sandwich for his lunch tomorrow, and my grandson thanked me for washing his clothes and folding them, and my son thanked me for sending him some information he requested. It was a typical day.
Helped a friend pick out a laptop. He thanked me greatly.
I made dinner for my family over the weekend. I thanked them for buying the ingredients. They thanked me for preparing the meal and cleaning afterward.
No I haven’t been thanked, but I will say this. A person on this site wrote me the most beautiful message. I have never experienced such a wonderful gesture. The message was very different from any I have ever received. I do of course, receive lot’s of loving messages and I appreciate them all. But I received it on Sunday and somehow it has changed my life. I thought about it all Monday. All I can say is we have angels amongst us here.
I was denied an appeal for a refund on part of last term’s tuition and I thanked the jerk for seeing me. Does that count?
I thanked my daughter for coming to pick me up after work tonight. Yesterday the whole famn damily was in the car, driving to visit some friends. As we pulled into the fast-food drive-in (an unusual place for us to eat) we saw a man flying cardboard. We bought him a hamburger and fries. He seemed truly grateful.
No, as a matter of fact, my boss is riding me like a ten dollar whore! And none of it is my fault.
A project manager thanked me today for solving his budget allocation issue.
I am thanked several times a day in my job because I am constantly giving people information that they ask for. However, this doesn’t mean that I necessarily feel appreciated by these “thanks” because so many of them are just the done thing to say at the end of the phone conversation.
