Floridian residents, did you know that the state aid budget for libraries is zeroed (seriously $0) for next year?
From 2000–2007, the typical state aid budget was around $30 million. Then it was reduced to about $22 million, which was the lowest amount needed to receive federal aid, an additional $8 million. This news came less than a week ago. With no time to collaborate with other libraries and at least consolidate, some of these libraries (with up to 50% of their budgets comprising of state/federal aid) will surely close. What repercussions do you believe this will have on Floridian residents?
Thanks.
