We use more muscles to frown than we do to smile.Laughter is the best medicine. Now,obviously these are fairly general statements but do you believe that being a person with a lot of laughter in their lives, someone who has a well developed sense of humour, who is able to see the funny side of life’s ups & downs,is at least in theory going to live to a ripe old age.Of course laughing uncontrollably while crossing a road for example could result in one’s life ending premarturely.

It certainly can’t hurt :)
@deni Exactly my philosophy.
I would think so. I do know that it strengthens your abs.
Yes. Laughing relieves tension (a major health problem) and increases oxygen in the blood. It is one of the few things that is good for you and contagious.
I have no idea. But it makes the time pass more pleasantly, don’t you think? (I’m not implying that you don’t think. This time, anyway.)
Laughter is a great release. Then again, so is crying.
@erichw1504 Abs-olutely! @stump In that case i’ll probably live to a grand old age touch wood @CyanoticWasp I think you think too much, I think that’s what i’m thinking.
Laughter and humor is EVERYTHING.
One trait of well adjusted humans!
My latest joke is that while my body is chronologically 50 my breasts are only 34! lololol
@ucme I believe that I think you might be right.

C- and holding steady! lol Yep, they have had a long and useful life and their ornamental value is still ‘hanging’ in there as well! hahahahaha
Whats amusing is that it does because it lowers stress and stess kills, and yet when you laugh a lot in a day, the day seems to go faster.
So to a comedian, they may live longer but they probably will feel it all went by too fast!! HA! HA! HA! HA!
Crap, can anyone tell me if I’m 80 yet?
”Sounds of laughter, shades of life are ringing through my opened ears
Inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns
And calls me on and on across the universe”
– The Beatles
They seem to link laughter and life. Good enough for me.
Living longer then who? Our cloned twin?
Laughter is sometimes the only thing that keeps me sane. With the stuff that happens to me on a daily basis, and what I get myself into, sometimes you just have to laugh. So yes, laughter helps me live longer, because if I stressed about every little thing I would be dead right now.
I love irony.
Just the other day I had a full blown inspection on my car. All good..except…on the way home in the pouring rain one of my windsheild wiper blades flew off! lolololololol
The ONE thing that I didn’t have them check! hahaha
It’s supposed to exercise your heart, so I would think it plays some role in prolonging one’s life.
When you laugh and/or smile. The muscles in your face trigger off endorphins.
Producing a feeling of well being. That is always a good thing.
I don’t think laughter itself is what does it, but laughter helps us live a healthier life style, and therefore contributes to a longer life.

When I catch a cold, I tend to watch a lot of comedy shows or things that make me laugh a lot. It makes the cold get better faster. Laughter heals the body for sure.
Great question!
Yes we should all laugh more. Nobody is interested if you are gloomy, but if you smile and laugh people will joint in with your merriment. That in turn makes you feel even happier. So laugh laugh laugh…
