Can you still be a flight attendant even if you have dentures?
especially if you are young about 20.

No. People with dentures are always discriminated against. Didn’t you hear the news?
Not at all. However, if you lost your teeth due to an ongoing “illness” this would disqualify your application, simply because you are in constant contact with people. However, they seek individuals who are smart in appearance, have good customer relations, preferably have some sort further education. A second or third language. There is also a maximum height requirement as well, as if one is over 6.2ft moving around a cabin could be difficult as is if one is too short (reaching) to luggage area above seats. Airlines used to demand a certain body weight too, however this was decided to be discrimination. So if you have dentures but are in good health and can more or less meet the requirements above you have a good chance of acceptance.
You used to be young, single attractive and be within certain height and weight requirements. They can’t discriminate so much now. Unless you need to be able to chew your way out of the plane in an emergency, this should not be a dis-qualifier as it does not hinder your performance of the essential job functions.
so people with dentures are looked down upon?
Yes.
<———-—still ponders the seriousness of this question.
i’m not talking about full dentures.. only a few pieces or so… or like a jacket.
and what other jobs discriminates people with false teeth.
Hot dog vendors have it pretty hard. :/
Why not? Are the passengers going to pry your mouth open and glare into your mouth to see if the teeth are real or not? On the contrary, your smile will be more attractive than most!
@Judi “Chew your way…..” cracked me up!!
Yeah, I’d be surprised if they even asked if you had dentures. I’m not sure why it would come up at all, unless they have a habit of falling out at high altitudes.
I just don’t see where it would be an issue.
@ZEPHYRA @mrentropy – i guess u are right. it might even be a boost for you coz u know your teeth does look good :D some actors and actresses have dentures then why not flight attendants :)
I don’t see how your teeth would be an issue, but they may toss your application in the trash and disqualify you cuz you can’t rite good, never figured out how to rite a capital letter and have no grammar.
How can u talk to people rite?
:D
@Mical: And how could you have lost all your teeth by 20? That takes some powerful effort, I would think. My 95 year old ma has all her own teeth still…some fillings and a few crowns. (And no Depends” either.)
@Vunessuh Well, I’m no hot dog vendor, but… * winks *
@bob_ As long as you have a hotdog…. * smiles *
@bob_ I’ll take it anyway I can get it. Preferably on an airplane.
I did not realize that flight attendants had height and weight or any kind of physical limitations. this is discrimination in all areas. we had this same problem back in the 70s, when our department had strict rules governing the height and weight of police officer candidates. we filed a lawsuti in Federal Court and won. this was done through our police union. this decision should also to appy to flight attendants and any other occupation. we have lady officers that are 4 ft 8 inches tall and one thats over 6 ft 3 iches tall. they both get the job done and thats all that counts. same should apply to flight attendants.
@gailcalled i didn’t lose all my teeth :)) just a hypothetical question.
@Mical: That’s a relief. Keep on flossing.
