Taxes are more or less pooled, AFAIK, and then spent according to the budget.
@Nullo what is the AFAIK?
They are pooled every year then?
You can start here The pie charts give you an simple over view but you should check out the links. If you go to the Federal Government’s site it will give you the budget, where your tax dollars go/went in more excrutiating detail than you can probably stand. That’s federal taxes. State, county, city and other local taxes, property taxes, etc. Well, you didn’t mention what state or city or county you live in so there’s no way to know where those taxes go.
@lillycoyote that is a great link. It is difficult to find because they call it budget rather taxes spent. There is a list of exactly what the taxes are spent for, that was referenced on another similar question, but I can’t find it.
To my account, but don’t tell anybody. I mean, erm, to the teachers, yeah, that’s the ticket.
@Mr_A As far as I know.
@Mr_A
AFAIK = As Far As I Know. An excellent way to spout nonsense without serious repercussions.
Thanks for the link I want to actually know where my money is going rather than like some people blindly say, there goes my tax money.
Into my checking account.
@YARNLADY and @Mr_A And if you really want to know more, and more and even more about how your federal tax dollars have and will be spent, you can go to the GPO’s site and either browse the budget or download the whole thing, which I believe is conveniently broken down into 32 individual PDF documents for you perusal.
Most of your money went to Iraq and Afghanistan. Some helped support a few people. Much of it was gobbled up by administrative personnel along the way.
Dick Cheney’s buddies at Halliburton for example.
And all that other stuff too.
