How can I heal the tiny cuts inside my mouth from a dental x-ray?

Asked by juniper (1910points) March 21st, 2010

I had a root canal a few days ago and now my mouth is littered with tons of tiny cuts, mostly from the x-ray tab that I bit on. The worst is on my gums, and some on the side of my mouth. This happens every time I get dental work done, and it always lasts a while.

Any ideas on something I could use to help heal the wounds more quickly? Or kind of seal them, maybe?

Rinse with warm salt water. That will accelerate healing and also feel soothing. You don’t have to make it so salty that it hurts your tongue. Just a few tbsp of salt to a quart of warm water.

I love this stuff as it puts a nice protective layer and also numbs the cut too!

The inside of the mouth is warm & moist, as you know. They’ll heal quite quickly on their own. The first two posts are also good suggestions if the cuts are severe.

Swishing Aloe Vera juice around might help a bit.

Bio-Tine is a mouthwash normally used for dry mouth, but really helps heal cuts and minor owies like when I bite my tongue or cheek. And most importantly it doesn’t burn or taste like poo.

Before you go too far, go back to the dentist and have him see what happened. Perhaps he can help you.
