Can school buses in your state do a right turn on red lights where there's no "no turn on red" restriction?
I heard some states forbid that, I wonder why.

Well, this, at least, is what Wikipedia says:
“Some vehicles, such as Hazmat vehicles and school buses are not legally allowed to turn on red under any circumstance and must wait for a green light or arrow.
I never knew this but that’s what the Wik says. You may want to do further research.
It kind of makes sense, as both school buses and Hazmat vehicles carry very precious and/or delicate cargo. Cargo you don’t want to take any chances with.
Can they do a wheelie? That would be much more interesting.
Honestly, I wouldn’t care if a bus was allowed to turn right on red. If I was driving it, I wouldn’t trust myself to stay in the right lane like I’m supposed to do when turning like that. Much less trust the other cars to stay in the lane that they’re supposed to be in.
No. School buses are not allowed to turn on red.
Wow, I was sitting on the bus last week at a red light on my way to school wondering why my bus wouldn’t turn right, and then ever since then I’ve noticed he never turns on red. Now I know why!
NY Srtate law prohibits turning on red
North Carolina——No turn on RED for school buses.
In PA school buses are permitted to follow the right turn on red statute like other vehicles, but most school-districts and bus contractors forbid their drivers to do so. It is not legally a mandate.
