I’m sure you can infer my position – but how do you feel about dirty politics and the media’s place in the election process?

Simply put, I am quite often both offended and angered at the mud-slinging that goes on. I’d really rather just hear the politics of it. We can make fun of whoever we don’t like on our own, thankyouverymuch. (not you-you, mostly you-the world)
It is a great distraction from the issues! In-depth academic/scientific analysis of the proposed plans for the future would be great! An authentic debate about what is best for the country. I think most people in the country want the same thing—stability and happiness for this great land we all call home. We have different opinions about how to make that happen.
Unfortunately, business has bought government, but government hasn’t learned from business. We need to increase accountability and performance-based metrics on our governmental programs. Our education system is such crap and we are so overworked as a nation that we don’t have the mental means or energy to really tackle these problems as voters.
So, we buy all the sensationalist crap the MSM puts out for us. In turn, the politicians pander to them. Politicians mainly want to get elected, and they will do what it takes in order to get elected.
As we can tell by the recent decrease in S:N in fluther, the majority of people aren’t invested in what they consume and what they produce. It is a cultural problem, but it is also a fact of life. How are the well-minded to overcome the apathy of the masses and the cruelty of the wicked? The last 8 years has been showing us what happens when we don’t.
