Why is my bum hole so often itchy?

It started around three years ago and gradually got worse and more frequent. I tried using creams for piles but they didn’t seem to work. Eventually it eased off but in the last year ago has started again. It can happen at any time of day or night. I go to the loo once or twice each day, usually without any difficulty. I sometimes suffer from wind. Occasionally I draw blood when I wipe my bum but not often.

My intial reaction to this post was that I thought you might have worms. This can cause extreme periodic itchiness and is easily remedied with over the counter pills.
But blood… don’t think that is worms.
I think we’re being trolled.
@FutureMemory – Really? What makes you think that? I (embarrassingly) had worms once years ago and I couldn’t figure out for the life of me what the itching was – drove me nuts.
See a doctor and get checked out for hemorrhoids.
Do you eat lots of white bread? I’ve heard that can cause an itchy bum, I think it’s got something to do with the amount of yeast used or something and that you should switch to wholemeal.
@Rachienz Just a gut reaction.
Apparently his ass bleeds from time to time, yet he hasn’t seen a doctor once since it began (three years ago). Who knows, maybe he doesn’t go to the doctor much or is too embarrassed to bring it up.
Depends on the level of blood. Apologies in advance for all this personal information you all probably didn’t need to know but… when I do, ahem, larger more solid poos than usual I sometimes get a tiny amount of blood on the toilet paper.
I thought that most people experienced this on occassion. Should I be worried now? :/
@Rachienz some spotting, occasionally, after a large bowel movement is not usually anything to worry about. Chances are you’ve created a small fissure and it will heal on it’s own in a few days.
You might be able to look yourself for pinworms. If you find them that is your problem. If you don’t find them it doesn’t say anything either way.
”
One way to diagnose pinworms is to use a flashlight to inspect the anal area. The worms are tiny, white, and threadlike. If none are seen, check for two or three additional nights.
The best way to diagnose this infection is to do a tape test. The best time to collect a sample is in the morning before bathing, because the eggs are laid at night. The sticky side of a 1 inch strip of cellophane tape is pressed firmly over the anal area for a few seconds. The eggs stick to the tape. The tape is then transferred to a glass slide, sticky side down. The slide should then be examined by your health care provider to look for eggs.
To improve the chances of picking up the eggs, this test may need to be done on three separate days.

Ahh I guess I’m the exception then.
blood never comes out of my butt, ever.

How aggressively do you wipe your bum. Try a little tenderness. ttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dael4sb42nI
58 causes for anal itching.
I’d see a doc quick!
Well try hemoroid creams and if that doesn’t work than see a doctor. Its not usual (but not uncommon) for people to go twice a day. But with bleeding and loose stools you may have something more seriously wrong with your intestines. Its just that the frequent bathroom visits are giving you hemoroids.
@Dog I agree with your statement and fully realize it’s directed at me – I have no problem with that. But, why do mods arbitrarily point this out? I’ve seen a shitload of posts in just the last week that deserved the same intervention by a moderator. Is moderating really that random?
Yeah, that happened to me when I was a kid when I sat in a red ant hill.
It didn’t last for three years though, check the cushions of your chairs for red ant hills.
Are you eating spicy foods?
@FutureMemory I too have seen all the posts you mention and have noted an increase in such posts. They are what prompted my post here. It was not personal at all. You just happened to be in the first question I posted in. :)
I have seen this before. It is most likely an internal problem making it’s way up and out through the skin. Therefore topical treatments are not sufficient. I would go to see a natural doctor. The kind who would use acupuncture and Traditional Chinese medicine to cure you. Also you will likely need to take a ” 3 day poop test” These are more comprehensive then the single or double sample variety. Also the lab technician who will run the test will have much more experience.
It could be any number of things, from the worms to hemorrhoids to more. Hemorrhoids would explain both the blood and itch.
I am guessing that you have not yet had it checked by your doctor. I highly suggest that you do so rather than trying to self diagnose and treat.
it’s roids that you’ve probably had for years, go to the dr. now, cause if you are on the nhs it wil be low priorty so start now.
You got your answers, now couldn’t you have put that question is a more delicate way?
For example: why is my anal orifice so itchy? Sounds smart uh?!?!?!??!
This doesn’t sound that odd to me. Wipe better?
