Can you help me find a webiste that ranks k-12 public schools by state?

Colleges? K-12?

Good luck with that. What would you rank them based on? How do you determine which state has the best public schools and what that means given that there is so much diversity within states and that local districts can have a stronger effect on schools than the state? Sorry I can’t help, but I don’t think you’ll find such a website.

@Snarp I used to hear of rankings like, FL is number 46. Or, when Bush was running that his state was ranked very low. I assume they use test scores. Not sure.

@njnyjobs I had seen those, but I thank you for the links. From what I can tell they do not rank the states, but rank particular schools. I agree that this is more meaningful, because when you generalize across a whole state, well the generalizations and averages are not always the best thing, but that is what I was seeking. Maybe I missed a link for that on one of the pages you posted?

Ohh… I get it . . . you want to put ranks state by state in general. . . .

which one among them helped out? . . . I perused the KY report and it was thorough. They also had a report from the year before that, if you’re interested just Google the same report title.

@JLeslie I see Maryland is still in the top 10, but wasn’t it higher when we went to high school there?

@augustlan No idea. I came from the mindset that NY schools were better. Lol. Never really knew where MD ranked. Top 10 is very good either way in my mind.

@njnyjobs I liked the second link, because it was simpler. I was interested because of a conversation I was having with someone, not for a report of any kind, so the basic informations sufficed.

If Texas isn’t number 50, it will be with it’s new text book standards.

@Snarp I was surprised to see that when I look at specific schools in specific cities, many TX schools rated very well. My girlfriend has her son in a Dallas Public school and it does sound very good in terms of the opportunity he has regarding his pursuits as a musician, and he is an impressive kid overall. But, who knows how they have rewritten history or if they are teaching the bible.
