Does it really matter that the mic picked up Biden "dropping the F-bomb" when talking to Obama about health care?

A big news story tonight on CNN is that Biden was picked up by the mic saying “This is a big fucking deal” to Obama after speaking about the passage of the bill. Does this really matter or is it just more “bread and circuses”?

I think he’s kind of a jackass even if it is a big fucking deal.
Half the country is all up in arms over the health care deal. They’re looking for anything and everything to make hay over. If this is the thing they latch onto, they must be really grasping at straws.
It is a fucking big deal given how we’re so against change but it really isn’t that much of a big deal – I would have liked it to be more of a big deal. And no I don’t care that he cursed, my god, who cares.
oh noes! he used the meat in his skull to make air vibrate on a frequency that is offensive to some piles of proteins. lets cry.
Wow, I didn’t know people swore. Story of the century. So scandalicious!~
I don’t believe so. It wasn’t as bad as hearing someone yell “Baby Killer!” in Congress.
I guess there isn’t enough going on in the news. I wish we as consumers didn’t give CNN money for shit stuff like this. Stick to the important issues.
I don’t think a grown man cursing is a big deal. Like he tainted Obama’s ears or something. . .
It’s a really big fucking deal, that’s what it is.
I love it – I’d much rather have him speak honestly & mess up than always saying the right thing all the time and being a “perfect” politician saying the “perfect” thing all the time. He’s human – I trust politicians more when they can be authentic and show that they are human. It is a big fucking deal – he says it like it is.
I thought it was great. Let’s have more of politicians being real. You can swear, and still be honest and compassionate. That’s so much better than being a hypocrite.
Holy motherfucking christ! Who gives a SHIT.
It’s not the actual language that upset me so much as the thousands of deaths of innocent children, kitties and bunnies that inevitably followed his Nazi Socialist behavior.
Nope. It’s ridiculous that this is even an issue. I bet there are very few people who have never said the word fuck.
He’s human – it’s refreshing to see.
I think if he’s going to talk like that, then he should be punished by having his health care bill taken away until he learns how to behave. That will teach him.
He should probably also be called “Potty Mouth” Joe Biden for a while too.
I’m curious because I only read about it after the fact; were the racist and homophobic slurs against congressmen by the protesters reported as thoroughly?
Those were honest expressions of concern over Socialized Medicine being imposed on a prostrate Nation by the Obama minions of doom.
But where’s the ”~”? I don’t quite know what you’re saying, @dpworkin . And are you sure it wasn’t a prostate nation?
A minion is a group of 10 Jews. I think you spell it without a ~. The Jews control the money supply, that’s why Obama needs them.
Protocols of the Elders of Zion, anyone?
@dpworkin . . . if i’m not mistaken, saudis have taken over that particular stereotype. way to drop the ball jews.
@Blondesjon Dang, and we always had so much fun with it!
I laughed out loud when I heard. Biden is apparently an excellent politician but this is typical of him – saying/doing unintentionally ridiculous things at the wrong time.
Like when he tried to acknowledge someone in the audience while he was speaking and he tried to get the guy to stand up to praise him… here the guy was in a wheelchair. Lol.
Does it matter? Why should it? I think this is only to remind us that during even the most serious of times or context, sometimes you just have to laugh and smile.
Anyone remember Cheney, back in 2004?
“On Tuesday, Cheney, serving in his role as president of the Senate, appeared in the chamber for a photo session. A chance meeting with Sen. Patrick J. Leahy (Vt.), the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, became an argument about Cheney’s ties to Halliburton Co., an international energy services corporation, and President Bush’s judicial nominees. The exchange ended when Cheney offered some crass advice.
“Fuck yourself,” said the man who is a heartbeat from the presidency. ”
Just one of those things that makes you laugh.
Anyone have a link to Biden’s slip? I’d love to see that! It is a big fucking deal, so I’m ok with him saying so.
I forgot the question. Oh yeah, it does matter. because in this country, no matter what yoiur point of contention, once the f word rears its ugly little head, you have lost all validity. Whatever your point it’s lost to people suddenly finding the reason to shut off all further communication. Expressing yourself so derogatorily often precedes the complete breakdown in negotiations. Biden should be aware of the possibility of live mikes on a sound stage and speak accordingly. This is simply more proof of the man’s lack of couth.
WTF? << See what I did there? Have I now lost all validity? Did you mean credibility?
Indubitably I did mean credibility. Many thanks
Ahh yes, @dpworkin Indeed I have. and this is how I know about using it and losing your validity or credibility.
I was doing well in an argument I had with a school administrator in college. But I let drop a leetle fuck here and a shit there….and they were screaming bloody murder. All my beautiful arrogance, wasted in nano seconds because of my ineptitude.
A lesson well learned.
Imposed on a prostrate Nation by the Obama minions of doom? Do you really mean this @dpworkin? Health insurance for everyone is going to cause Armageddon? Obama wants to pull the plug on grandma? I think there’s more at stake here than finding the best health care reform. Portraying political opponents as witch doctors or worse?
If the concepts enemy and fear constitute the energetic principles of politics, a democratic political system is impossible, whether the fear is produced from within or without. If freedom is absence of restraints, the restraints to be removed are many, but the psychological restraint of fear ranks first.
And yes, Biden is a human being having been under constant attack by far-right hatemongers.
I’d like to quote @Zuma who said: “So, when they [the hatemongers, tea baggers etc] come at you with their bad faith arguments, their made up facts, their sly digs, their contemptuous needling insults and snarky zingers, they are essentially shutting any substantive discussion down, and attempting to get you to respond in kind. Once they get you to lose your temper and lure you over to their rhetorical dark side, it tends to confirm what they believe all along; namely, that people are selfish, unfeeling and mean, and therefore deserving of nothing. If they are not decisively defeated at the polls in November I fear that nothing short of civil war will bring them back to good faith bargaining.”
I couldn’t agree more. America deserves better.
what are you doing, @janbb? Correcting my seasoning?
I always thought we’d cook together pretty well, but if you need to be a lone chef…
Got it, thanks ! But some hatemongers are for real, unfortunately. Some people even expect a civil war.
@dpworkin If you’d use the fucking tilde, it would make my life immeasurably easier. ~
I like him just the way he is.~
I lurve him anyway. Fuck yeah.
