I know that there are quite a few bacteria that cause gingivitis, however, I was wondering which one is the most common one.

causes may include poor eating habits, poor tooth alignment, heavy plaque deposits, blood disorders, drug reactions and vitamin deficiencies.
Gingivitis can be defined as inflammation of the gingival tissue without loss of tooth attachment (i.e.periodontal ligament). Gingivitis is an irritation of the gums. It is usually caused by bacterial plaque that accumulates in the small gaps between the gums and the teeth and by calculus (tartar) that forms on the teeth.
Brushing and using Listerine can help.
Great question. I tried to google it and I cannot find specific bacterias named. I did see they recommend flagyl as treatment, which would be anaerobes I think. Seems like mostly they talk about overgrowth of bacteria, nothing seems to indicate that there is a specific bacteria that you could possibly treat or try to get rid of.
Maybe a doctor or dentist will respond.
Kissing causes gingivitis from the bacteria in the other person’s mouth. :D
Note to self: Stop kissing people.
