Holga 135BC or Holga Mini?
Help!
I’m an avid Lomo/Holga fan. Since beginning my obsession with medium format cameras I’ve moved to my small hometown and don’t have access to a place for development or purchase of the film.
I’m looking at buying either a Holga 135BC or a Diana Mini so I can use 35mm and don’t have to spend a fortune on film and processing.
But which one do I choose?!?
My favorite subjects are people. I care about the nuances like light leaks, saturation, and a bit of vignetting. I won’t always be shooting outdoors. I like the square format, will I be getting that with these?
Thanks, shutterjellies.

Just get a cheap 35mm P&S and throw it against a wall then jump on it a few time. It will then work like a Holga. (I’ve never understood the attraction for images from a poorly designed, badly manufactured, barely functioning camera). There are all sorts of mods to cameras to make them act like a Holga – Google for Holga modifications
@DarkScribe I think it’s because it reminds us of pictures from our childhood…and that they’re simple and uncontrolled compared to digital (which I also love, don’t get me wrong),
But yes, I think you’re right about throwing them against the wall!
You would be getting about the same thing, whether you buy a Holga or a Diana. Both are cheaply made toy cameras that give you the desired Lomo effect. The 135bc will especially give you the vignetted corners, hence the name (black corner – bc) My Holga is your basic run of the mill model with a plastic lens instead of glass. It shoots 120 but I’ve modified it to shoot 35mm if I want. If you get a Holga to shoot 35mm, it won’t be square format, that only comes with medium format film. It can get pricey, but I usually just develop my own film.
I have a Holga cfn 120. It can very easily be modified to accept 35 mm film. If you want specific instructions, shoot me a private message.
