Wow, that’s really harsh “sickened”.
I think that you get used to it. The mods never bothered me, but this is my first community site. If you came from somewhere else, it can seem a bit excessive. However, as you realize that the moderation helps elevate the level of discussion in the community, it isn’t so invasive. Also, as you became more accustomed to what gets modded here, you subconsciously avoid those things, and thus notice the mods less.
@chyna i don’t think it was so much the moderators as the flagging system that sickened me.
@chyna why are you are a moderator?
There’s no real problem with the moderation.. it filters out the crap . :l
The moderation, honestly. As far as I see it, it’s a lot different now than it used to be.
You’ve grown up. Welcome to jelly adulthood.
A bit of both, probably.
A) When you came in during the wis.dm shutdown, we were quite unprepared for the mass migration. So, we had to mod a lot, because the wis.dmers didn’t know the ways of the site and we didn’t do a good job of explaining it in the beginning. Between that and coming from a site with no moderation, I’m sure that was frustrating as hell and inspired a lot of animosity towards moderation in general.
B) Many people take moderation a bit personally when they first start. After they’ve been around a while and see that it affects everyone, they relax a bit.
I think thumbs up to the moderators, they do an excellent job. Particularly with my lousy spelling!
I love the flag function it gets rid of nuisances faster eventually, over time, hopefully quicker rather than slower.
Mostly you. Next you’ll get a Volvo and move to the suburbs.
